USDA Announces Recall of DJ’s Boudain Sausage Links
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a recall for 17,720 pounds of DJ’s Boudain sausage link products. The recall comes after the discovery of potential contamination with foreign materials, specifically pieces of a pen. This alarming situation has prompted immediate action to protect consumers from potential health risks associated with consuming these products.
The contaminated sausage links were produced on January 23, 2025, and bear the establishment number “EST. 13246” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These products have been distributed to various locations across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, raising concerns about widespread exposure to potentially harmful food items.
Consumer Complaint Leads to Discovery
The contamination was brought to light following a consumer complaint about finding a piece of a pen in the Original Boudain sausage links. This discovery has led to one reported case of oral injury related to the consumption of the contaminated product. Fortunately, there have been no additional reports of injury or illness associated with these products.
