As a handful of activist judges across the U.S. attempt to thwart President Donald Trump’s policies at every turn, his many Democratic rivals are cheering on the judiciary.
In the past, however, party leaders have taken a different tone about judges who stand in the way of their own agenda.
One such example was recently cited by a quick-thinking congressional witness in response to a question from Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN).
According to the Daily Wire:
Clearly jabbing at Trump and his administration — as well as Republican lawmakers who have moved to impeach the judges issuing blanket nationwide injunctions from their perches in district courts — Klobuchar directed the question to attorney Jesse Panuccio, who previously served as the Acting Associate Attorney General of the United States.
“Not in a partisan way, just normal, as a partner in a law firm, would you ever — have you ever taken to social media to personally attack a judge who ruled against you? That’s all my question is,” Klobuchar said.
“Senator, thanks for the question,” Panuccio replied. “I think that attacking judges personally, and not their reasoning, well, let me just give you a quote: ‘I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price —’”
Klobuchar attempted to interrupt and regain control of the situation as soon as she realized where he was going, but Panuccio kept going: “‘— you won’t know what hit you if you go forward with those awful decisions.’ That was something that Senator Schumer said, and I thought it was awful, and it unleashed a wave of violent threats against Supreme Court Justices. I do think that’s problematic, that kind of language.”

Judges opposing Trump’s second-term priorities have also come under fire for what some say appear to be blatant partisanship or conflicts of interest:

The situation has raised allegations of “judge shopping” by Democrats keen on derailing Trump’s plans.
As Fox News reported:
Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett called out Democrats and liberal groups for “judge shopping” – rushing cases to friendly courts to guarantee anti-Trump rulings in a move he considers a blatant abuse of the legal system.
“[It’s] completely unethical, and many of these restraining orders have one common denominator – they’re ordered by Democrat-appointed judges exceeding their authority, contorting the law to do it,” Jarrett said Monday.
The accusation comes on the heels of D.C.-based Judge James Boasberg issuing an order to immediately halt the Trump administration’s planned deportations of Venezuelan nationals to El Salvador via the Alien Enemies Act, a 1798 wartime law.
