A troubling trend has emerged in recent months as criminals target Tesla owners and dealerships in protest of the company’s owner Elon Musk.
The protests and acts of vandalism have resulted in countless dollars in damage and caused serious safety concerns across the U.S., which is why the Trump administration has taken the threats seriously:

But one left-wing prosecutor in Minnesota won’t be throwing the book at one state employee allegedly caught on camera causing about $20,000 in damage to multiple Tesla vehicles.
As the New York Post reported:
The suspected vandal, 33-year-old Minnesota government employee Dylan Bryan Adams, was allegedly spotted keying the vehicles and stripping their paint off while out walking his dog around the city.
Despite what police believe to be evidence of Adams committing felonies, Hennepin County District Attorney Mary Moriarty will seek diversion rather than criminal charges.
“This is an approach taken in many property crime cases and helps to ensure the individual keeps their job and can pay restitution, as well as reducing the likelihood of repeat offenses,” the attorney’s office said in a statement, CBS News reported.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said at the time of the incident that the damage in each case was the equivalent of a felony.
The case is just one of several that have gained national attention in recent days:

The Washington Times also reported on the latest development:
This approach does allow for criminal charges later, if Mr. Adams were to engage in more vandalism.
“This is an approach taken in many property crime cases and helps to ensure the individual keeps their job and can pay restitution, as well as reducing the likelihood of repeat offenses. Criminal prosecution remains a possibility should unlawful behavior continue,” Ms. Moriarty said.
Mr. Adams was arrested last week and videos were shown during a news conference last Thursday of the suspect purportedly keying the electric-powered cars, mostly in downtown Minneapolis, while walking his dog.
Teslas come with 360-degree cameras, and so anyone getting close enough to key them or perform some other acts of vandalism automatically provides police with a video of his crime.
