Kari Lake’s latest property purchase has heightened speculation that’s she preparing another run for political office.
Multiple outlets report that Lake bought a condo in her home community of eastern Iowa.
The real estate move comes ahead of a potential retirement of 92-year-old Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) in 2028.

MS Now has more:
Official property records from Scott County, Iowa, show the November sale of the two-bedroom condominium in a brick apartment building in Davenport to a family trust controlled by Lake. She graduated from a high school near the property before attending the University of Iowa.
Grassley has not closed the door on running for re-election in 2028, but would be 95 years old on Election Day if he pursued another term.
Lake ran unsuccessfully twice in Arizona, first for governor in 2022 and then for U.S. Senate in 2024.
President Trump later appointed Lake to lead the U.S. Agency for Global Media.

Daily Beast shared further:
At the start of the second Trump administration, Ernst was reluctant to vote to confirm Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, leading MAGA Iowans to call for her to be primaried. Lake was seen as MAGA-favored potential challenger, and scheduled a “Welcome Home Kari Lake” speaking event in Des Moines in January 2025 amid the controversy. After Ernst voted to confirm Hegseth, the event was cancelled.
At the time, Lake spokesperson Alex Nicoll told the Arizona Republic that “Kari Lake is not running for office in Arizona or anywhere else. She’s going to D.C. to lead the Voice of America and help spread the amazing story of America around the world.” However, MS Now reported that, “A source familiar with her political interests said at the time that Lake had not ruled out a primary challenge to Ernst.”
Ernst, 55, announced in September that she would not run for re-election in 2026. Lake has not commented on the opening Senate seat since Ernst’s announcement.
