GOP Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance made an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, which resulted in a fiery exchange with CNN anchor Jake Tapper.

Tapper began the interview by criticizing Donald Trump’s “enemy from within” comment, which Trump clarified to be talking about the “Radical-left lunatics” response to threatening Election Day security should Trump win in November.

“I think the bigger problem are the people from within. We have some very bad people. We have some sick people. Radical-left lunatics,” Trump stated. “I think it should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard or, if really necessary, by the military, because they can’t let that happen,” Trump added.

Tapper also referenced the comments made by Trump’s former chief of staff, John Kelly, who stated that Trump fits “into the general definition of fascist.”

Trump responded to Kelly’s comment in a Truth Social post, stating that Kelly is a “degenerate…..who made up a story out of pure Trump Derangement Syndrome Hatred.”

“This guy had two qualities, which don’t work well together,” Trump continued. “He was tough and dumb. John Kelly is a low life.”

Vance (R-Ohio), argued against the credibility of people like Kelly and former Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) who has crossed party lines, along with her father, Dick Cheney, in support of Kamala Harris.

“You’re taking words out of context,” Vance stated. “If you’d like to put up a clip and actually put him in context, I think the American people who realize that Donald Trump is a hell of a lot more reasonable than the people like Liz Cheney, who would like to lie us into war.”

Vance then shifted the conversation to call CNN’s journalistic integrity into question.

“Now, Jake, we also should remember, I mean, step back a little bit. Ask yourself a basic question about network integrity. You guys talked about the Russia hoax nonstop,” Vance continued.

Tapper responded, arguing that the “FBI was investigating it, so, we covered them.”

“You took the words of unnamed FBI agents and put them on your network as if they were the gospel truth. You did it again and again,” Vance contended. “A viewer of your network would’ve believed that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin conspired in 2-16. Now that was totally and preposterously false.”

“You covered it in a way that gave credence to anonymous sources [and] accusations. You did it yourself. Your network did it, Jake,” Vance added.

The interview then shifted towards Kelly’s comments, as well as former Trump administration officials who have since denounced the former president.

“So all these 10 people, including the former Vice President Mike Pence, all of these people are – have this horribly damaged worldview, and they’re all just going after Donald Trump because they want to send people into war?” Tapper asked, referencing Kelly and others who Trump has since labeled as “neocons” and “bad” people.

“Absolutely,” Vance responded. “All of the people, Jake, they came into office thinking that they could control Donald Trump, that when he said he wanted peace in the world.”

Additionally, Trump recently admitted that the “biggest mistake” he made was that he “picked some people that I shouldn’t have picked,” for cabinet positions within his administration.

“They didn’t think he was unfit for office until they had a falling out with them because he fired them,” Vance added, referencing the former cabinet members who have since spoken out against Trump. “Kamala Harris protects failures in government. Donald Trump fires them. And I’d much rather have the president who fires people who screw up.”
