This just in: a mass casualty event has been declared in Israel after an Iranian missile struck Arad.

Helicopters are being dispatched to locate and evacuate the injured.

Dozens of civilians have been wounded, including a 5-year-old girl who is in serious condition.

Here’s some footage from the devastating scene:

At least 68 injuries have been reported, so far.

The Jerusalem Post has more details:

At least 68 people were wounded, including 10 in serious condition, after an Iranian ballistic missile struck a building in the southern Israeli city of Arad on Saturday night.

A five-year-old was among the 10 seriously wounded in the attack, MDA said, adding that 11 were reported in moderate condition, and 47 lightly wounded.

Attempts were being made to rescue some feared trapped under the rubble, ZAKA paramedics on the scene said

Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba declared a mass casualty event as wounded were rushed to hospitals for further treatment.

The IDF is investigating why the missile defense system failed to intercept the Iranian ballistic missile that caused so much devastation.

Per The Times of Israel:

The Israeli Air Force is investigating the failure to intercept the ballistic missile that struck the southern city of Arad a short while ago.

The missile, which is assessed to have carried a conventional warhead with hundreds of kilograms of explosives, injured dozens and caused extensive damage.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu shared a statement on X:

This is a very difficult evening in the campaign for our future. Just a short while ago, I spoke with the Mayor of Arad, Yair Maayan, and asked him to convey, on behalf of all Israeli citizens, our prayers for the peace of the injured.

I have instructed the Director General of my office to provide all the necessary assistance together with all government ministries.

I strengthen the emergency and rescue forces operating in the field right now, and I call on everyone to heed the instructions of the Home Front Command.

We are determined to continue to strike our enemies on all fronts.

This is very sad for all of the victims and their loved ones.

Please keep everyone impacted in your prayers.
