Although Governor Ron DeSantis has not announced that he is running for President in 2024, the speculation continues. An insider is reporting that the Florida Republican has his eye on a potential Vice Presidential running mate.
According to Radar Online, DeSantis is determined to recruit Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders to run alongside him before he makes his announcement. Apparently, the former Trump administration Press Secretary is the best choice following her own Gubernatorial win. A source close to DeSantis said,
“He really only has one strong choice: Sarah. He is desperate to lock up his running mate before he makes his formal announcement. He would announce his VP candidate very soon afterward.”
“He thinks it will be a one-two punch, and Republicans will be hard-pressed to look past a united front, especially if it is him and Sarah,” the campaign insider admitted.
Sanders is the daughter of former Gov. Mike Huckabee. Sanders first became a household name herself during her time serving as the White House press secretary under President Trump’s administration. During her two years as Press Secretary, Huckabee Sanders proved herself to be an effective voice, sparring with the fake news reporters who constantly targeted the President.

Sanders still speaks highly of President Trump and noted that her focus is not on the upcoming election,
“I love the President and have a great relationship with him. I know our country would be infinitely better off if he was in office right now instead of Joe Biden, but right now, my focus isn’t 2024.”
Despite her approval of Trump, she has not yet endorsed her previous boss. One source close to Sanders said she currently has a foot in both camps.

Mitchell says DeSantis is polling worse among Republicans than he was a year ago. In the past three months, DeSantis’ numbers have completely collapsed. Mitchell pointed out that DeSantis is a “Trump substitute, not a Trump Replacement.”

Trump advisor Jason Miller also weighed in on Trump’s surge in popularity in light of Governor DeSantis’ declining poll numbers saying that wealthy donors such as billionaire Steve Schwarzman are walking “away from private meetings with DeSantis unimpressed.”
The predominant question for Sarah Huckabee Sanders is if she wants to tether her potentially bright future to a candidate whose Presidential campaign is sinking before it is even announced against die-hard competitor President Trump.
