Gun safe manufacturer ‘Liberty Safe‘ faced extreme backlash for complying with an FBI request to provide a gun safe access code for a J6 attendee.
Nathan Hughes, the man arrested at gun point, was raided by federal agents.
Hughes is a friend of the Hodge twins, who first broke the news about Liberty Safe complying with the FBI’s request for the access code to get into his safe.
“Last week, a friend of ours was raided by the feds over J6, his name is Nathan Hughes and he’s from Fayetteville, Arkansas. Nate was raided by the FBI and arrested at gun point. His girlfriend (who just had a miscarriage) was held at gun point and put in handcuffs. The FBI turned off his security cameras, unplugged his internet, and flipped his house upside down in a search. The feds called the manufacturer of his Liberty Gun Safe and got the passcode to get into it too. All for protesting at the Capitol over 2 1/2 years ago,” the Hodge twins wrote.
“He is being charged with crimes related to January 6th. He didn’t assault anyone and he didn’t vandalize anything. He is being labeled a domestic terrorist and a traitor to his country by woke leftists and the media,” they added.

“On August 30, 2023, Liberty Safe was contacted by the FBI requesting the access code to the safe of an individual whom they had a warrant to search their property. Our company protocol is to provide access codes to law enforcement if a warrant grants them access to a property. After receiving the request, we received proof of the valid warrant, and only then did we provide them with an access code. Liberty Safe had no knowledge of any of the details surrounding the investigation at the time,” Liberty Safe said in a statement.
“Liberty Safe is devoted to protecting the personal property and 2nd Amendment rights of our customers and has repeatedly denied requests for access codes without a warrant in the past. We do not give out combinations without proper legal documentation being provided by authorities.”

After an onslaught of critical comments, Liberty Safe updated its policies.
UPDATE: Liberty Safe Changes Policy After Access Code Controversy
“We listen to our customers and update our products and practices in response to their evolving needs. Today we are announcing a change that empowers our customers with greater control over their information. Effective immediately, existing customers can visit www.libertysafe.com/pages/combination-removal and fill out the form to have records of their access codes expunged. In the coming weeks, we will be releasing a feature that gives every new customer this option when registering their safe,” Liberty Safe wrote.
“We have also revised our policies around cooperation with law enforcement. Going forward we will require a subpoena that legally compels Liberty Safe to supply access codes but can only do so if these codes still exist in our system,” Liberty Safe added.

According to Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, Liberty Safe’s parent company donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to gun-control supporting Democrats.
“Liberty Safe was sold to Monomoy Capital Partners in 2021, a liberal East Coast investment firm. I pulled the FEC reports on the company and found approximately $400,000 over the last 10 cycles of max donations to Democrats like: Raphael Warnock in GA, John Fetterman in PA, Mandela Barnes in WI, Mark Kelly in AZ,” Kirk said.
“Liberty Safe’s current CEO, Justin Hillenbrand, was a founding partner of Monomoy and donated $4,600 to Obama for America. And we’re supposed to be surprised they betrayed their customers to the FBI as quickly as humanly possible? Boycott Liberty Safe,” he added.

Although Liberty Safe quickly attempted to save itself, it may be too late for the company to prevent a massive boycott from long-time customers.
