President Trump announced on Tuesday that he will create the “External Revenue Service” to collect tariffs, duties, and revenue from foreign sources.
“For far too long, we have relied on taxing our Great People using the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Through soft and pathetically weak Trade agreements, the American Economy has delivered growth and prosperity to the World, while taxing ourselves. It is time for that to change,” Trump said.
“I am today announcing that I will create the EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE to collect our Tariffs, Duties, and all Revenue that come from Foreign sources. We will begin charging those that make money off of us with Trade, and they will start paying, FINALLY, their fair share,” he continued.
“January 20, 2025, will be the birth date of the External Revenue Service. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he added.
Per Reuters:
Trump has pledged to impose big tariffs on the United States’ three largest trading partners – Canada, Mexico and China – including a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico until they clamped down on drugs and migrants crossing the border.
He has also vowed impose tariffs of 10% on global imports into the United States, along with a 60% tariff on Chinese goods – duties that trade experts say would upend trade flows, raise costs and draw retaliation against U.S. exports.
The Trump transition team didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on details of how the new agency would work.

We will finally have a government agency that actually helps Americans instead of bleeding them dry with taxes and regulations

President Trump has just announced that he’ll be creating an EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE to focus on tariffs.
Does this mean that we will eventually phase out the INTERNAL Revenue Service which focuses on destroying the lives of the American people?

From The Hill:
Collecting tariffs is currently the responsibility of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which is housed within the Department of Homeland Security.
Under the current system, CBP collects tariffs from U.S.-based importers of foreign goods subject to import taxes. The importer — not the foreign country or company from which the product was exported — must pay the tax to CBP.
In his first term in office, Trump imposed tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum, including from Canada and Mexico, and compelled both countries to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement with terms meant to boost U.S. manufacturing and improve compliance with labor laws.
