President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he will be directing the Pentagon, led by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, along with other federal agencies, to release documents and information concerning “aliens,” extraterrestrial life and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs).

“Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

Trump’s announcement followed his remarks to reporters on Air Force One, in which he criticized former President Barack Obama for what he called a “big mistake” after Obama stated in a recent podcast that while aliens “are real,” he has not seen them, and that there are no extraterrestrials being held at Area 51 or in a secret underground facility.

“He gave classified information. He’s not supposed to be doing that,” Trump said. “I don’t know if they’re real or not. I can tell you, he gave classified information. He’s not supposed to be doing that – he made a big mistake. He took it out of classified information.”

Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) the chairwoman of the House Oversight Committee’s task force on the declassification of federal secrets, took to X to Trump’s announcement.

Additionally, another member of the declassification task force, Representative Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) took to X to share his excitement.
