Erik Martindale, a Florida nurse who stated he would not anesthetize people who support the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, is no longer permitted to work in the Sunshine State.
On Thursday, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that Martinsdale “is no longer a registered nurse in Florida.”
“Healthcare is not contingent on political beliefs, and we have zero tolerance for partisans who put politics above their ethical duty to treat patients with the respect and dignity they deserve,” Uthmeier wrote on X.
This comes after the now ex-nurse posted an angry social media announcement saying he would “not perform anesthesia for any surgeries or procedures for MAGA.”
“It is my right, it is my ethical oath, and I stand behind my education. I own all my businesses, and I can refuse anyone!” Martindale continued.
Martindale rapidly deleted all of his social media accounts after his post went viral. He later claimed his account was hacked and that he was not the one who wrote it.
In an anonymous report to Fox News, a source said that Martindale surrendered his license, adding that he violated his contract by moving to Indiana without notifying the Florida Board of Nursing.
Meanwhile, the Florida Department of Health’s portal for registered nurses now lists Martindale’s license as “relinquished” in the status field. The license was originally issued in February 2020, and was set to expire in April 2027.
This comes days after another Florida nurse, 55-year-old Alexis Lawler, posted a social media rant wishing serious harm on pregnant White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt during childbirth.
