NEWS HEADLINES: Elon Musk Makes Decision About Reinstating Trump on Twitter

In an interview on Tuesday with Financial Times, Elon Musk said he will reverse Trump’s Twitter ban when he officially takes over the social media platform, calling his ban “morally bad.”

“Permanent bans should be extremely rare and really reserved for accounts that are bots, or scam, or spam accounts,” said Musk in his interview. “…I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump. I think that was a mistake because it alienated a large part of the country and did not result in Donald Trump not having a voice.”

“I think it was a morally bad decision and foolish in the extreme.”

When asked whether he would reverse the platform’s ban on Trump, Musk replied, “I would reverse the permanent ban.” He then clarified, “I don’t own Twitter yet. So this is not like a thing that will definitely happen, because what if I don’t own Twitter?”

Musk also noted that former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey agrees with him that they should not have “permanent bans.”

Despite Musk’s pending invitation for Trump to rejoin the social media network, Trump has publically vowed to not return to Twitter, instead sticking to his own social media platform.

In April, Trump announced, “I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH. I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it, and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH.”
