Physician Leana Wen appeared on CBS’s “Face The Nation” on Sunday to fearmonger about bird flu.

According to Wikipedia, Wen is the “former health commissioner for the city of Baltimore and former president of Planned Parenthood.”

Wen said the Biden administration should make rapid testing available and ask the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to authorize an already-existing H5N1 vaccine in its final days.

In other words, attempting to scare the public with identical rhetoric to COVID-19.

The same scamdemic playbook.

“I feel like we should’ve learned our lesson from COVID, that just because we aren’t testing doesn’t mean the virus isn’t there,” Wen said.

“There actually is a vaccine developed already against H5N1. The Biden administration has contracted with manufacturers to make almost 5 million doses of the vaccine,” she continued.

“However, they have not asked the FDA to authorize the vaccine. There’s research done on it. They could get this authorized now and also get the vaccine out,” she added.

Wen’s comments during COVID-19 should not be forgotten.

She compared choosing not to take the experimental COVID-19 shot to driving while intoxicated and said unvaccinated individuals should not be allowed to leave their homes.

“We need to start looking at the choice to remain unvaccinated the same as we look at driving while intoxicated,” she told Chris Cuomo in 2021.

“You have the option to not get vaccinated if you want. But then you can’t go out in public,” she added.

“The vaccinated shouldn’t have to pay the price for the so-called choices of the unvaccinated,” she said.

“There are privileges associated with being an American. That if you wish to have these privileges, you need to get vaccinated. Travel, and having the right to travel in our state, it’s not a constitutional right as far as I know to board a plane,” Wen said in a different appearance on CNN in 2021.

Bird flu propaganda has intensified in recent days.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency due to the “spread of Bird Flu in dairy cows.”

“On December 12, 2024, dairy cows at four Southern California dairies tested positive for Bird Flu, necessitating a shift from regional containment to statewide monitoring and response to active cases,” an emergency proclamation read.

A closer look:

The emergency proclamation followed public health officials declaring the first “severe case of H5N1 Bird Flu in the U.S.”

“CDC confirms first severe case of H5N1 Bird Flu in the U.S. While an investigation into the source of the infection is ongoing, it has been determined that the patient had exposure to sick and dead birds in backyard flocks,” the CDC stated.

“No person-to-person spread of H5 bird flu has been detected. This case does not change CDC’s overall assessment of the immediate risk to the public’s health from H5N1 bird flu, which remains low,” it added.

Per CBS News:

The recent outbreak of bird flu stems from a mutation of the H5N1 virus that affects humans more easily, compared to past mutations of the virus that targeted birds and not mammals.

On Thursday, the CDC reported its first severe case of bird flu in the U.S. found in a patient in Louisiana who was infected from a backyard poultry flock. The Louisiana case was first confirmed by health officials Friday, adding to the total of 61 reported human cases of H5 bird flu reported in the United States. Another severe case of H5N1 has been reported in a teen in British Columbia.

According to the CDC, the mutations found in humans seemed to develop as the virus adapted to its host. The genetic changes in the H5N1 samples from the infected human were not present in the samples from the backyard poultry flock that infected the patient, suggesting that the concerning mutations had not developed until after the transmission of the virus. Federal health officials in the report said that spread between close contacts is more likely when these changes develop during the clinical course of a human infection.

“It’s someone who is severely ill. But not only that, researchers have isolated the virus in this individual who is sick in Louisiana, and they found that this particular strain of the virus appears to have acquired mutations that make it more likely to bind to airway receptors,” Wen said Sunday, adding that this mutation allows a person to have bird flu and seasonal flu at the same time.

Wen added that she believes the number of H5N1 cases currently reported in the U.S. is likely an undercount due to the lack of testing.
