I have listened to this multiple times and I’m still not entirely sure what I am hearing…
I’m going to give you all the “Fact-Checks” below so you can see what the all-knowing Fact-Checkers have to say, but I’m just telling you John Fetterman sure did choose a very weird way to say what he says in here.
Also, beyond just one phrase which may have been poorly constructed, listen to the whole clip.
It’s point after point of why people like Trump, why he’s so loved in PA, and why he’s going to be tough to defeat.

He starts off kind of pretending to speak as if he’s a voter in PA that likes President Trump and so he’s sort of speaking in the third person as if he was that voter, but then it seems to shift halfway through and jump back to first-person.
That’s why it becomes confusing.

Look, do I think Fetterman is going to vote for President Trump?
Most likely not, although it is becoming very strange how much he keeps praising him.
Slip of the tongue on one particular phrase or not, he sure does keep praising him a lot.

President Donald Trump has a “special” connection with the people of Pennsylvania, Democratic Sen. John Fetterman warns.
Fetterman made the observation during a conversation with The Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg during the 2024 Atlantic Festival on Thursday.
“Trump has created a special kind of hold within the coronet he’s remade – the party – and he has a special kind of place in Pennsylvania, and I think that only deepened after the first assassination attempt,” Fetterman said.
“I also want people to understand, you know, and it’s not science, but there is, there’s energy and there are kinds of anger on the ground in Pennsylvania — and people are very committed and strong,” Fetterman said Thursday. “And I joked that his signs became like the state flower – and you see that everywhere.”
