I just took this music artist off my playlist.
Country music star Zach Bryan recently teased a new song on Instagram that is critical of ICE agents.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has responded to the new song and has called Bryan’s move “disrespectful.”
The Hill reported more on Noem’s remarks:
Homeland Security Security Kristi Noem called a song Zach Bryan teased last week “disrespectful” to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.
“I hope he understands how completely disrespectful that song is, not just to law enforcement but to this country, to every single individual that has ever stood up and fought for our freedoms. He just compromised it all by putting out a product such as that,” Noem told conservative commentator Benny Johnson on Tuesday evening.
Noem added that she is “very happy” she does not listen to Bryan’s music. As of Tuesday, Bryan’s songs have been streamed more than 16 billion times on Spotify.
The country music star posted a portion of the song, titled “Bad News,” to Instagram on Friday.
In the clip, Bryan sings “And ICE is gonna come bust down your house, try to build a house no one builds no more, but I got a telephone, kids are all scared and all alone.”

Time reported more on Bryan’s new controversial song:
Zach Bryan, one of the biggest stars in country music over the past few years, winning legions of fans with a unique blend of Americana, self-reflection, and heartfelt love songs, while typically straying away from politics, pushed back against rage from the right after he waded into the political moment with a lament of the fading American dream.
A snippet of a song posted on Instagram on Oct. 3 touched on raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) around the country, a part of President Donald Trump’s mass deportation program.
“And ICE is gonna come, bust down your door / Try to build a house no one builds no more / But I got a telephone / Kids are all scared and all alone,” he sings in the yet-unreleased song titled “Bad News.”
Trump has dramatically increased immigration raids across the U.S. in his second term as he aims to meet his goal of carrying out the largest mass deportation campaign in U.S history. This weekend, witnesses described a military-style ICE raid on an apartment building in South Shore, Chicago, in which children were pulled out of their apartments in the middle of the night, zip-tied, and put in vans.
