Per Axios:
The meeting hasnβt been finalized yet, but it is part of a last-ditch effort by President Trump to swerve away from war and back toward dealmaking.
βA meeting with the Iranians this week is under consideration,β a U.S. official confirmed.
The meeting could be a make-or-break moment for the question of whether the U.S. will join the war in order to eliminate Iranβs nuclear program militarily.
Trump sees the massive bunker busters needed to destroy Iranβs underground enrichment facility at Fordow β which the U.S. has and Israel does not β as a key point of leverage to get Iran to cut a deal, a senior U.S. official said.
Describing the decision on bunker busters as an βinflection point,β the official said Trump βthinks in terms of deals and leverage. And this is leverage.β
βThey do want to talk,β the senior official continued. βBut what we donβt know is, βhave they been brought to their knees fully so that they realize that in order to have a country, they have to talk?β And assuming they get there, is there any degree of enrichment you would allow them to have?β
French President Emmanuel Macron claimed President Trump proposed a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.

From the New York Post:
Macronβs comments come as Trump warned that βEveryone should immediately evacuate Tehran,β and reports indicate that the president will give the Iranian regime one last chance to sign off on a deal that seeks to prevent it from enriching uranium needed for a nuclear weapon.
The White House and Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not immediately respond to The Postβs request for comment.
