House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chair James Comer has issued a subpoena for testimony from former Democrat President Joe Bidenβs White House doctor, Kevin OβConnor.
On Thursday, Representative Comer (R-Ky.) issued a subpoena as part of his latest effort to broaden his committeeβs investigation into Bidenβs cognitive decline and his recently disclosed prostate cancerβwhich, according to experts, he likely had knowledge of for several years.
βAmong other subjects, the Committee expressed its interest in whether your financial relationship with the Biden family affected your assessment of former President Bidenβs physical and mental fitness to fulfill his duties as President,β Comer said in a letter accompanying the subpoena. βGiven your connections with the Biden family, the Committee sought to understand if you contributed to an effort to hide former President Bidenβs fitness to serve from the American people.β

The subpoena forces OβConnor to attend to give a testimony at a deposition on June 27th, and it comes after he rebuffed Comerβs offer to appear voluntarily before the committee.
According to Comerβs letter, OβConnorβs attorneys previously informed the committee that the denial to appear was allegedly due in part to a Washington, D.C. code prohibiting physicians from disclosing patient information to a court without consent: βethical obligations pursuant to βPrincipal No. IV of the Code of Ethics of the American Medical Association (AMA),’β and βphysician-patient privilege.β
βThese arguments lack merit,β Comer wrote in response.
βCongress is not a court; this Section therefore in no way precludes you from appearing and testifying regarding your role as Physician to former President Biden,β the letter added.
