A member of the Bush family has officially announced heβs running for governor of Maine.

Bush, a healthcare entrepreneur, announced on Wednesday his campaign in an attempt to flip the governorβs seat from blue to red.

POLITICO has more:
The campaign marks Bushβs first foray into politics after a career in health technology. He co-founded and helmed athenahealth, before being forced out of the company amid a hedge fund takeover in 2018. The move came shortly after he admitted to assaulting his ex-wife years before. He is currently the CEO of Zus Health, a company he started in 2020.
Bush enters a crowded primary contest that includes a handful of other challengers. Maine Democrats will choose between Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, former Senate President Troy Jackson, and Angus King III, the son of former Maine governor and current Sen. Angus King.
It remains to be seen whether Bushβs lineage will be an asset in what may be a crowded Republican primary. Members of the Bush family have often been cast as antagonists by President Donald Trump and many of his supporters.
Trump catapulted to the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 in part by denigrating former Florida Governor Jeb Bush β a cousin of the health care executive.

WGME noted:
Bush founded Athena Health and says he brought 1,000 jobs to the Midcoast. He claims heβs the only candidate for governor with a track record of creating jobs.
βWe need someone who is comfortable disrupting, but someone who knows how to build jobs and has a discipline of setting up economic growth and following across all the levers of state government,β Bush said.
Bush says Maine is in an βeconomic growth emergencyβ and is calling for a $1 billion income tax cut, an audit of the state budget and more access to natural gas.
Bush joins eight Republican candidates running for governor. They include lawyer Bobby Charles, real estate broker David Jones, State Senator Jim Libby, health care entrepreneur Owen McCarthy, and former fitness executive Ben Midgley.
The Republican field also includes Ken Capron, Steven Shepphard, and Robert Wessels.
Bush says he wants Maine to again be a place where small businesses thrive.
