A collision between a Port Authority airport vehicle and an Air Canada regional jet has closed LaGuardia Airport in New York.
The New York police department confirmed the collision, and firefighters responded to reports of a plane that crashed into a vehicle at 11:38 p.m.
“The aircraft struck the vehicle on the runway, triggering a major emergency response. Multiple injuries have been reported following the incident, with unconfirmed reports of fatalities at this time. At least an Air Canada Express CRJ-900 was involved, carrying approximately 100 souls on board, while 5 first responders were in the fire truck,” Rawsalerts wrote.
“Multiple agencies are on scene, with crews actively conducting rescues, triaging victims, and transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. Authorities are working to secure the area as the situation remains active and developing. All flights are being deferred to JFK,” the post added.

At least two individuals are seriously injured and currently hospitalized following the collision, sources told ABC News.
Multiple videos taken by bystanders and posted on social media showed the jet with severe damage to the front of the aircraft.
Preliminary data shows the flight had landed on Runway 4 and was rolling down the runway when the collision happened as the ground vehicle also crossed the runway.
At least 18 flights have been diverted from LGA following the airport’s closure, and most of them diverted to JFK and EWR.

In audio going viral on social media, an air traffic controller reportedly told the truck driver to “stop, stop, stop” before the collision.
“Stop, stop, stop. Truck 1 stop, stop, stop,” the controller reportedly says in the clip.
“Stop truck 1. Stop. Stop truck 1,” he continued.
“Jet 646. Jet 646, I see you collide with a vehicle. Hold position; I know you can’t move. The vehicle is responding to you now,” the controller reportedly told the pilot of the plane.

Images showed the front of the commuter plane smashed and tilting in the air. The injured cops work on the Port Authority Police Department’s Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter Unit, which is staffed by police to respond to aircraft emergencies, sources said.
One hundred passengers were on the jet — a Bombardier CRJ-900 — and their conditions are being evaluated. Sources said the plane was carrying a group of Orthodox Jews from the New York area.
The collision happened as the plane, operated by regional carrier Jazz Airlines, was heading to a gate, as heavy weather hit the area, according to ColLive.
LaGuardia Airport issued an alert late Sunday warning that rainy and cloudy weather could disrupt operations at the travel hub.
The airport is now closed, and the FAA has issued a ground stop due to an aircraft emergency.
