Deputy Director Bongino may have underestimated how much heat he would take for his limp-wristed interview alongside Kash Patel over the weekend.

His quick willingness to accept the evidence as presented by an FBI workforce largely constituted by the same people who ran the show during the Biden Administration didn’t sit well with most of us.

One person in particular had a visceral reaction to his dismissive answers surrounding the Butler assassination plot.

Liz Harrington, President Trump’s former spokesperson, absolutely ripped in to Bongino, echoing many of those who think he is soft-balling the need for ANSWERS about the assassination attempt.

But… THERE IS A BACKSTORY HERE.  (Stick with me – we’ll get to that.)

Here’s a quick clip, in case you missed it, to get the flavor of the Deputy Director’s take on what happened in Butler, PA:

If Bongino hadn’t been a Secret Service Agent in the past…

And if he hadn’t spent the last few months HAMMERING the questions that need to be answered about the attempt on the President’s life in Butler…

His answer still wouldn’t go over well — but at least it wouldn’t come as such a SHOCK.

But the fact is he promised the American people for months that there was more to this, and that he’d get to the bottom of it.

Now, as Deputy Director of one of the federal organizations corrupted under the Biden Administration, he’s sounding far too much like a company man than the zealous corruption-busting lawman we were promised.

And the President’s former spokesperson isn’t having any of it.

She responded in a pair of posts about 14 hours apart:

That was actually the more CALM response that Liz Harrington had for Bongino.

That was more than 14 hours AFTER she had a chance to calm herself after NUKING Bongino for flip-flopping on the Butler fiasco.

Here was her more off-the-cuff response earlier that morning:

And here’s the full text of her response for convenience:

I’m sorry, the investigation into J13 is closed? Who were you briefed by? The people who came in, hosed down the crime scene, cremated the body, stonewalled congressional investigators, and lawyered up the family?

There is a “there” there because we know NOTHING about Crooks, or who he was talking to.

If this is true, they need to come out with everything they know about why and HOW a 20 year old pulled that off.

The former FBI director just called for ANOTHER hit on President Trump. We must get serious about what is going on.

One thing is definite — Bongino said he wasn’t going to tell people what they wanted to hear.

That’s one promise made, and KEPT!

But he seemed to simply accept the FBI’s former investigative results on the assassination attempt.

He said he wasn’t ‘given’ any reason to believe there was a larger plot afoot, according to a report in the Daily Mail:

Fox News host Maria Bartiromo pushed Bongino and FBI Director Kash Patel in their joint interview on Sunday on why Americans don’t have more information about the assassination attempts against Trump.

Patel didn’t want to comment on active investigations, but previewed that he and his deputy have learned a lot since getting into office earlier this year – including viewing all evidence and being briefed by officials on the attacks.

Bongino gave a more direct answer, claiming that there wasn’t much to divulge.

‘Are we going to be surprised at what you learned?’ the Sunday Morning Futures moderator asked.

Bongino said: ‘I’m not going to tell people what they want to hear. I’m going to tell you the truth. And whether you like it or not is up to you.’

‘I know people – I get it. I understand. It’s not there. If it was there, we would have told you,’ the conservative media personality-turned-FBI official promised.

Bongino said that he and Patel have been ‘personally briefed extensively on every single detail, nugget, tendril of this case’ and said there was no proof of any foreign terrorism involvement.

Online theories swirled that Crooks was part of a large foreign-influenced plot to take out the Republican before the 2024 presidential election, which he went on to win.

But now Bongino says there is no evidence that Crooks was working with outside entities to kill the former – and then future – president.

‘A lot of that information will come out in the federal court cases,’ Patel divulged.

‘But we have personally invested our time in making sure that we have looked at all the – any possible international connections to terrorism and adversaries alike,’ he insisted. (Emphasis added.)

If you’re a well-adjusted average person, you may have caught what I’m about to point out.

But if you’re one of our readers… you probably already know where I’m going.

The biggest question wasn’t whether there were OUTSIDE players working with Crooks in the Butler PA assassination attempt.

The biggest question has ALWAYS been:  who was he working with on the INSIDE?

Funny how that wasn’t addressed by Bongino, or in that story from the Daily Mail.

Funny, or telling?

Full disclosure: I still lean towards expecting Bongino to prove solid, and find the truth — partly because I have a hard time thinking someone could be SO IN LINE with the truth, and then jump ship.  And partly because I trust Kash Patel who sat there and said exactly the same thing.

Maybe… they are playing the cards they’ve been given — for now — while working different angles to get at the truth they both know is there?

Maybe.  I could be wrong.  Noah’s reporting on the interview definitely hit a nerve, detailing his theory that they have both been compromised:

MY TAKE: Dan Bongino and Kash Patel Are Compromised…and This Is The Deal They Made

One of the biggest questions I have is how Bongino could go from laying out all the open questions on his podcast following the assassination attempt…

And then act like those concerns are no longer valid, just because the Biden-era FBI folks said so.

Check out this video from July 14th of last year, in which Bongino enumerates a number of ‘open security questions’ needing to be answered:

Here’s an outline of just a few of the UNKNOWNS he mentioned in that video alone:

  1. What were the “extra resources” and “technologies” that were deployed?
  2. How did the BEST WE HAVE not catch a shooter on a roof?
  3. How did the Counter Sniper Team fail to pick up on someone at a fraction of the distance those teams are trained on?
  4. Was their forward-looking infrared deployed?
  5. Was there aerial support / drones / helicopters?
  6. Why didn’t the evacuation go right – maximum focus to the Protectee, minimum focus to the threat?
  7. Why were repeated requests to increase protection for President Trump rebuffed?

And now, as Liz Harrington pointed out, the answers produced by investigations carried out by Biden’s FBI are enough to satisfy you?

What gives!?

Sarah Adams, a former CIA anti-terror analyst and Targeter who is currently working to expose the truth behind Benghazi and other debacles, made a good point.

In response to Bongino’s follow-up post after the interview on Fox, she highlighted that a third-party re-investigation would go a LONG WAY in regaining public trust (if that’s even possible).

Here’s that post, and I’ll put the full text from both below for easier viewing:

Here’s Bongino’s post-interview social media reaction:

I haven’t done any media interviews to this point because I want to keep the attention on the work. I don’t work for myself anymore, I work for you.
But it is important to relay to you what we’re doing, and the media can be a tool for that. That’s why we chose a long-form interview with Maria Bartiromo for our first interview. I hope you saw it. If you missed it, here are some of the questions that were asked and answered:

-Yes, we are moving FBI headquarters out of the Hoover Building. The process has already begun. Stay tuned for updates on the details and timelines.

-I was asked about some of the details surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein case. I have reviewed the case. Jeffrey Epstein killed himself. There’s no evidence in the case file indicating otherwise. I’m not asking you to believe me, or not. I’m telling you what exists, and what doesn’t. If new evidence surfaces I’m happy to reevaluate.

-I was challenged on “accountability.” It’s a fair question. I aggressively responded because the Director and I have been working tirelessly to uncover the bad actors. We cannot get into HR specifics, and this creates an information vacuum. Unfortunately bad actors looking to tell you “a story,” not THE story, want you to believe we haven’t taken harsh and decisive action against rogue employees. That’s absolutely false. And the bad actors know it.

-We were asked about FBI priorities. The Director and I told Maria that the President, the Attorney General, the Director, and I are absolutely committed to getting your FBI back to its roots. We will make your communities safer. Illegal immigration ops, child sex crimes investigations, 764 cases, and violent criminal fugitive apprehensions are all on our expanding radar. And while America is enjoying the summer we are already planning a massive operation to clean up your streets. The counter-terror and counter-intell missions are critical and will continue at our customary high-tempo too. This is what you pay us for.

God bless America, and all those who defend Her.

And here’s the full text of Sarah Adams’ very good idea:

As someone who saw FBI’s investigation into Benghazi and how incorrect it was including even identifying and charging the wrong mastermind—I think authorizing an outside body to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s death is something that the public would need to truly trust the findings.

And here’s the backstory I promised:

What if I told you this isn’t the first time President Trump’s former spokesperson, Liz Harrington, and Dan Bongino, have had a spat!?

Back when Liz Harrington was still his spokesperson, and Bongino was still at Fox, President Trump did an interview which aired in part on Bongino’s show.

Would you believe that there was some colorful editing to the interview, and Liz Harrington called Bongino out for the edited answer from the President’s interview?

Yep — that happened.

Here are the details according to an August 2021 article on Rawstory:

Rush Limbaugh cover-host Dan Bongino interviewed Donald Trump this weekend for Fox News but the video has caused some controversy after the conservative network posted an edited version of it on their accounts.

Trump spokesperson Liz Harrington demanded answers from the network and from Bongino, which causes a flurry of fury across right-wing social media. Instead of publicly calling him out, raging at him, and demanding answers, Bongino argued she could have just called him to ask about it.

Bongino responded on social media with this post, promising to look in to the edits that Harrington referred to:

Here’s the full text of Bongino’s response to Harrington’s accusation, in case that image is hard to make out:

IMPORTANT:

I was not made aware of ANY edits made to my interview with President Trump on the Fox News Channel YouTube account.

However, it’s my show and I’m responsible for what happens with it. I’m looking into this and I will provide a full account of what happened on my podcast tomorrow. I owe it to you. I’ve been a staunch ally to President Trump from the beginning, even when others sold him out. And I have the receipts to back it up.

Shortly after, Harrington posted a ‘clarification’ in response, according to that same article on Rawstory:

Two hours later, Harrington posted a clarification as Bongino was shredded across social media for his anti-Trump edits.

“This had nothing to do with @danbongino,” Harrington tweeted. “The interview happened to be on his show. Dan is a great friend of America First. It was @FoxNews who cut out President Trump’s statement about the Fake Election, just like they have cut out coverage of election fraud ever since.”

At that point, Bongino had apparently been slighted online beyond the point he was willing to let slide.

Liz Harrington’s response apparently didn’t seem gracious enough, so Bongino took to social media again.

Here was his final response to President Trump’s spokesperson:

As accurate as Bongino’s post probably was at the time, it laid the framework for what we just saw.

Liz Harrington, shamed in 2021 by Bongino for inadvertently blaming an edited answer specifically on him — which he had no part in — likely felt that the current Deputy Director of the FBI owed her.

And today, Harrington came to collect.

As far as Bongino’s ability to operate free of influence in his top FBI spot, the jury is still out.

As I referenced earlier, I’m holding out hope that time will prove Bongino is still operating as a principled patriot, while Noah feels fairly certain he’s been compromised.

How about you?  Let me know in the comments what YOU think is going on with Dan Bongino?

What do you think?
