8 News Now reports:
One person is dead and seven others are injured following the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck at the main entrance to the Las Vegas Trump International Hotel Wednesday morning.
Two sources close to the investigation tell the 8 News Now Investigators that they believe the explosion was an intentional act and not an accident. Video shows the vehicle parked next to the hotel’s front doors as it explodes into flames.
The new year was barely eight hours old when Clark County firefighters and Las Vegas Metropolitan police responded to the explosion and fire around 8:40 a.m. in the 2000 block of Fashion Show Drive, across from Fashion Show Mall and just west of the Las Vegas Strip.
During a news conference, Sheriff Kevin McMahill said “We saw smoke start showing from the vehicle and a large explosion occurs.” He added, “There is one dead individual in the Cybertruck and I don’t know if it’s male or female at this time. We are investigating a number of leads.”

“We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself,” Musk said in a later post.
“All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion,” he added.

“Appears likely to be an act of terrorism. Both this Cybertruck and the F-150 suicide bomb in New Orleans were rented from Turo. Perhaps they are linked in some way,” Musk said.

From The Post Millennial:
Law enforcement sources told the New York Post that the Cybertruck was rented off Turo, the same carsharing app used by Shamsud-Din Jabbar to rent the truck used in the New Orleans terrorist attack earlier the same day.
Authorities said during a Wednesday afternoon briefing that one person, who was inside the truck, died and seven others were injured. The incident took place just after 8:40 am local time at 2000 Fashion Show Drive. Authorities are investigating the case as a possible terrorist attack.
The explosion took place in the valet area of the hotel. The truck was reportedly carrying firework-style mortars. Musk said in a comment that the design of the stainless steel truck likely saved lives. “Cybertruck is the worst possible choice for a car bomb, as its stainless steel armor will contain the blast better than any other commercial vehicle,” he wrote.
