A driver in New Orleans plowed into a crowd on Bourbon Street in Louisiana, killing 10 people and injuring 35.
The suspect, after plowing his car into the busy street then, proceeded to shoot at officers before he was shot dead by police.
New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Chief Anne Kirkpatrick stated, “It did involve a man driving a pickup truck down Bourbon Street at a very fast pace. It was very intentional behavior.”
She added, “This man was trying to run over as many people as he possibly could. It was not a DUI situation. This is more complex and serious based on the information we have.”
The mayor of New Orleans has described the attack as a terrorist attack:

The crash, which occurred at 3:15 a.m. local time on Wednesday, Jan. 1, has left 10 people dead and more than 35 injured and being treated in local hospitals.
New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Chief Anne Kirkpatrick shared details of the event in an early morning press conference, telling reporters, “It did involve a man driving a pickup truck down Bourbon Street at a very fast pace. It was very intentional behavior. This man was trying to run over as many people as he possibly could. It was not a DUI situation. This is more complex and serious based on the information we have.”
Kirkpatrick added that the man then fired on NOPD officers after crashing his vehicle, leaving two officers shot but in “stable” condition. PEOPLE previously confirmed that the driver of the vehicle was shot and killed in the exchange with police.
IS SHE ANOTHER DEI HIRE? This FBI Special Agent needs to be fired the day Trump gets into office for calling the New Orleans NYE terror attack an “event”.
An hour later the FBI statement says they are investigating it “as an act of terrorism.” pic.twitter.com/Uh1yfMLagt

Per Fox News:
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said her city fell victim to a “terrorist attack” at a news conference Wednesday after a driver plowed a car into a large crowd of New Year’s revelers earlier that morning on Bourbon Street.
However, FBI Special Agent Aletha Duncan said the incident is “not a terrorist attack” in comments delivered after the mayor spoke.
At least 10 people were killed and 30 injured after the driver intentionally rammed into the crowd and then began firing a weapon at police officers from his vehicle as he crashed the car, police said.
The FBI said improvised explosive devices were found and that investigators are working to confirm whether the devices are viable.
Authorities urged people to avoid Bourbon Street while an investigation is ongoing.
