Every single Democrat governor issued a joint statement on President Trump deploying the National Guard to Los Angeles in response to riots.

BREAKING: President Trump Is Deploying The National Guard!

“President Trump’s move to deploy California’s National Guard is an alarming abuse of power. Governors are the Commanders in Chief of their National Guard and the federal government activating them in their own borders without consulting or working with a state’s governor is ineffective and dangerous,” the letter read.

“Further, threatening to send the U.S. Marines into American neighborhoods undermines the mission of our service members, erodes public trust, and shows the Trump administration does not trust local law enforcement,” it continued.

“It’s important we respect the executive authority of our country’s governors to manager their National Guards – and we stand with Governor Newsom who has made it clear that violence is unacceptable and that local authorities should be able to do their jobs without the chaos of this federal interference and intimidation,” it added.

“Every single Democratic Governor agrees: Donald Trump’s attempts to militarize California are an alarming abuse of power,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom commented.

Per NBC News:

Trump further escalated his efforts to tamp down the protests on Sunday, directing the heads of several federal agencies “to take all such action necessary to liberate Los Angeles” and put an end to the protest, which he characterized as “migrant riots.”

“Violent, insurrectionist mobs are swarming and attacking our Federal Agents to try and stop our deportation operations,” Trump wrote. “Order will be restored, the Illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be set free.”

While it is unclear what action Trump’s administration will take in response to his call to “liberate Los Angeles,” the order comes after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that active-duty Marines would be mobilized “if violence continues.”

Despite reports, footage, and accounts of widespread violence in Los Angeles, Newsom said the federal government wanted a “spectacle.”

“The federal government is taking over the California National Guard and deploying 2,000 soldiers in Los Angeles — not because there is a shortage of law enforcement, but because they want a spectacle. Don’t give them one. Never use violence. Speak out peacefully,” Newsom said.

ABC News reports:

President Donald Trump signed a memorandum on Saturday authorizing the deployment of “2,000 National Guardsmen to address the lawlessness” in Los Angeles stemming from protests over the ICE operations.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office told ABC News on Sunday that about 300 National Guard troops are on the ground in Los Angeles, far fewer than the 2,000 troops the Trump administration said had been activated.

The U.S. Northern Command confirmed on Sunday that National Guard troops are on the ground in Los Angeles, posting on X that the California National Guard 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) “has deployed approximately 300 soldiers to 3 separate locations in the greater Los Angeles area.”

“They are conducting safety and protection of federal property & personnel,” the post added.
