Kristen Stewart Ditches Heels On Cannes Crimson Carpet, Defying ‘No Flats’ Rule

Kristen Stewart flouted the Cannes Movie Competition rule that ladies might not put on flats to red-carpet screenings by ditching her heels on Monday quickly after her picture was taken.

Stewart, who’s a member of the movie competition’s jury this 12 months, posed for photographers whereas carrying a pair of Christian Louboutin stilettos. The actress then swiftly eliminated her sneakers and walked the remainder of the pink carpet barefoot on her approach to a screening of Spike Lee’s movie “BlacKkKlansman.”

They're off.
And off she goes.

Stewart has not mentioned whether or not she eliminated her sneakers to protest the French competition’s rule requiring girls to don excessive heels, and her representatives didn’t return HuffPost’s request for remark. However the star has spoken out prior to now in opposition to what many contemplate an arcane gown code.

On the 2016 competition, Stewart informed Vainness Honest that the coverage wanted to alter instantly.

“If [a man and I] were walking the red carpet together and someone stopped me and said, ‘Excuse me, young lady, you’re not wearing heels. You cannot come in,’ then [I’m going to say], ‘Neither is my friend. Does he have to wear heels?’” she mentioned on the time. “It can work both ways. It’s just like you simply cannot ask me to do something that you are not asking him. I get the black-tie thing but you should be able to do either version — flats or heels.”

That very same 12 months, Julia Roberts went barefoot on the Cannes pink carpet.

The high-profile rebellions in opposition to the gown code appear to stem from a 2015 incident when middle-aged girls carrying rhinestone flats had been turned away from a screening of the movie “Carol.” The competition cited the “obligatory heels” coverage in response to the outrage.
