Dylan Efron had his head in the game during Season 34 of “Dancing With the Stars.”
So much so, that his older brother Zac Efron made his highly-anticipated debut in the ballroom for Prince Night in November.
During the semi-finals, cameras caught the “High School Musical” actor, 38, seemingly questioning how the scoring worked after Dylan, 33, and his partner Danielle Karagach’s dance.
“Zac got defensive,” the reality star recalled on Tuesday’s episode of “The Smith Sisters Live.”
Dylan explained that his siblings was genuinely curious and inquired: “Is that a good score?”
The podcast host said that viewers thought Zac had asked, “Is that their high score?”
“I actually did speak to Zac about this,” Dylan continued. “But then Zac was like, ‘Oh, no.’ He’s like, ‘They’re misinterpreting it.’ And I can’t remember what he was saying, but I think he said that he thought it was a really good dance. So he’s like, ‘Is that the highest score they would give?’”
The “Traitors” alum and Karagach, 32, performed a cha-cha to Prince’s 1986 track “Kiss” and a tango to the late musician’s hit song “I Would Die 4 U” (1984).
They scored a 27 out of 30 and ultimately finished the season in fourth place.
“So I think he was more like that should have been higher or something like that,” Dylan detailed. “It was funny regardless, but Zac got defensive. He’s like, ‘No, they misinterpreted what I meant!’”
During Prince Night, Zac wrote on his Instagram Story: “Vote for @dylanefron tonight on DWTS! Text ‘Dylan’ to 21523 ten times.”
While speaking to Entertainment Tonight after the semi-finals, the influencer said it “means everything” to have had Zac there supporting him.
“I grew up watching him do stuff like this. Looking over, my family’s there, my girlfriend. Just seeing all of them together, that’s my support.”
In October, Dylan paid tribute to the actor by dancing to “Rewrite The Stars” on Dedication Night.
The song was a duet between Zac and Zendaya in 2017’s “The Greatest Showman.”
“Now, being able to dance to ‘Rewrite the Stars,’ this is a nod to my brother,” the ABC star gushed during the Oct. 14 episode. “Zac’s always taken care of me and he did things that were so selfless. I wanna be that to [our sister] Olivia, I wanna be the best role model I can.”
Zac and Dylan’s parents, Starla Baskett and David Efron, split in 2016, with David remarrying and welcoming daughter Olivia and son Henry.

A week later, the star revealed why Zac hadn’t been in the ballroom just yet.
“Hey, he’s doing his thing,” he told Extra after his Oct. 21 performance. “[But he’s] supporting me every day.”
Despite not scoring as high as Zac would have liked in the semi-finals, Dylan did make it to the finale.
He competed against fellow celebs Robert Irwin, Alix Earle, Jordan Chiles and Elaine Hendrix.
“My whole life, I watched my brother perform,” the YouTuber said during his pre-taped package that night. “I never wanted to be in the spotlight, and the fact that I can step out onstage and capture people’s attention truly gives me chills. I finally feel like I belong here.”
Irwin, 21, and his pro partner, Witney Carson, ultimately won the Mirrorball on Nov. 24.
Over the years, Dylan has opened up about his tight-knit bond with Zac. However, they weren’t always close.
Dylan confessed in 2021 that he and Zac “were always fighting with each other” when they were kids, and called one another “so different.”
“Then once I graduated college, Zac really took me under his wing and let me live with him when I got my first job in Los Angeles,” Dylan told BroBible. “He really became that older brother, and that’s when I would say we grew closer than ever. Our relationship was something that developed more as we both became adults and stopped fighting so much.”
