Yungblud isnβt on the crazy train of internet commentary.
After the artist, 28, performed in honor of Ozzy Osbourne at the 2025 MTV VMAs in September, he was met with criticism.
But Yungblud remains unfazed by the chatter surrounding his tribute to the Prince of Darkness, who died at age 76 in July.
During an Oct. 7 appearance onΒ Jack OsbourneΒ and Ryan DrexlerβsΒ βTrying Not to Dieβ podcast, the singer and Jack, 39, reflected on how they canβt control what others think of them.
βSome rock stars were slagging you off and kind of being like, βOh, heβs just clout chasing. Heβs jumping on the bandwagon of, you know, Ozzy passing,β β Osbourneβs son said before getting emotional.
βYouβve been so graceful over the last two months,β Jack continued through tears. βYou were so much more involved. And weβve respected that youβve respected that.β
The television personality explained that fans might not be aware of how close Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, is with the Osbournes.
βThey donβt know the things we know. And I was just kind of like, fβ you, dude. Like, yeah, Dom meant something to my dad,β Jack candidly shared. βMy dad meant something to Dom.β
βAll I was trying to do was my best for your old man because he gave me such a gift,β Yungblud responded. βAnd when people try and intellectualize a sense of spirit and six musicians on a stage going, βWe fβing love you, man,β itβs just bitter and jealous.β
The rocker noted that critics are trying to make themselves relevant through negative backlash.
βThey are doing the things that they say that we are doing,β Yungblud stated. βTheyβre trying to insert themselves into a conversation to obtain some kind of relevancy on the back of us honoring one of the greatest rock stars that ever lived.β
βAnd then they talk about authenticity and stuff like that and itβs like, I just loved your dad and I just was like, you know what Iβm just going to do it.β
Yungblud said he honored Osbourne during his VMAs performance by screaming βhahaβ at the beginning of the song βCrazy Trainβ and sporting dark eyeliner. He also wore aΒ cross necklace that was a gift from the late Black Sabbath frontman.
βIβm going to just fβing do it because what what the fβ else are we going to do?β Yungblud stated.
βWhen it comes to people within rock β within the rock community β what people forget about rock and this is why in my opinion, the people talking about us, they ainβt real rock stars because as I said in this life, anyone bigger than you or emotion, more emotionally evolved than you will never talk down on you.β
Now, Yungblud is focused on preserving Osbourneβs legacy for future generations.
βPeople forget that rock is dictated by the people,β continued the star. βThe people are what makes something rock and roll. And as far as Iβm concerned, the people fβing loved it. And we got to put your fβing dadβs face in front of another 100 million people that night. And keep that legacy alive and keep that idea alive.β
Jack and his children introduced Yungblud, Steven Tyler, Joe PerryΒ and Nuno Bettencourt remotely as they performed at the September ceremony.
The sang βCrazy Train,β βChanges,β and βMama, Iβm Coming Home.β
Osbourneβs family firstΒ announced Ozzyβs passingΒ on July 22. HisΒ cause of death was later determinedΒ to be from cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease and Parkinsonβs disease.
βIt is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,β they said in a statement to The Post. βHe was his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.β
Elliot, whom Ozzy adopted from Rileyβs previous relationship, and Jessica were notably absent from the statementβs signature.
An insider close to the Osbournes later revealed that Ozzyβs deathΒ left Sharon so distraughtΒ that their children stepped in to help take care of her.
βSharonβs heartbroken but very proud of the life the family built together,β a source toldΒ People. βEveryoneβs rallying around her. Sheβs been the rock of this family for decades, and now itβs her turn to be held up.β
βThe kids are making sure sheβs never alone β theyβve been with her constantly, sharing stories, laughing through the tears and just being together,β the insider continued. βThereβs a lot of pain, but also a lot of comfort from the family time that they got to enjoy up until the very end.β
