Vivica A. Fox is mourning the loss of her former co-star Michael Madsen.
The actor reportedly died from cardiac arrest at age 67, per his manager, Ron Smith.
Fox, 60, and Madsen starred in the “Kill Bill” movies together in 2003 and 2004.
“I had the pleasure of working with Michael Madsen on ‘Kill Bill’ & several other films!” the actress exclusively told The Post in a statement on Thursday.
“Michael was a talented man with an AMAZING on screen presence! My deepest condolences & prayers to his family. #GoneToSoon #RestInParadise,” she wrote in an email.
“Kill Bill” follows a former assassin (Uma Thurman), who wakes up from a coma four years after her jealous ex, Bill (David Carradine), attempted to kill her on her wedding day.
In the action thriller, Madsen starred as Bill’s brother, Budd, while Fox portrayed Vernita Green, a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, the leader of which was Bill.
Quentin Tarantino wrote and directed both “Kill Bill: Volume 1” and “Kill Bill: Volume 2,” with the projects soon becoming cult classics.
Madsen had previously worked with the director, 62, on the 1992 crime thriller “Reservoir Dogs.”
Harvey Keitel, 86, who starred alongside Madsen in the film, also reacted to the news of his death, telling The Post, “We’ve lost another great American poet. Farewell, my dear friend.”
Looking back on filming “Reservoir Dogs,” Madsen told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that being typecast as the go-to heavy stems from that role.
“I think it was ‘Reservoir Dogs,’” he said. “I think it was the Tarantino phenomenon. It hit so hard, it was such a big punch. Quentin is, in my estimation, the best director of my generation. He’s up there with George Stevens and Alfred Hitchcock, Elia Kazan.”
Madsen added, “Because of that, because of my relationship with him, it became bigger than anything I ever did. And then ‘Kill Bill’ put the final stamp on that one. It’s a great blessing to have that and at the same time, it is really hard to get out of it. And people don’t want you to get out of it.”
According to the late actor, “It’s really hard to break out of that nest once you’ve built it.”
“People tend to want to see the thing you’ve been known for. Madsen is the go-to guy for the mean guy, the mean husband or the bad boyfriend or the hitman,” Madsen said at the time.
“It’s all good, and I think I hit it pretty good in ‘Kill Bill,’ but I was the dad in ‘Free Willy’ for God’s sake! Or ‘Thelma & Louise.’ I don’t get that kind of material and I don’t know why,” he added.
Madsen, who first hit the scene in the 1983 sci-fi techno thriller “WarGames,” shed light on the hardships of landing roles over his four-decade-long career.
“If you’re an actor, you want to act, you want to try different stuff,” he told the outlet. “But it is becoming a very, very desperate game, it is becoming a very, very hard, competitive industry. And social media is really brutal.”
“The funny thing is if you look for good things you are going to find them. If you look for bad things you are going to find them too. And most people, sadly, want to look for bad things,” he noted.
Madsen was discovered unresponsive by authorities in his Malibu, California, home early Thursday morning.
A representative for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department confirmed to The Post that the “Donnie Brasco” alum was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:25 a.m.
They added that no foul play is suspected.
According to law enforcement, Madsen’s death is believed to be from natural causes.
Following his sudden death, the actor’s representatives released a statement.
“In the last two years Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film including upcoming feature films ‘Resurrection Road,’ ‘Concessions’ and ‘Cookbook for Southern Housewives,’ and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life,” his managers, Smith and Susan Ferris, as well as his publicist, Liz Rodriguez, told The Post.
“Michael was also preparing to release a new book called ‘Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems,’ currently being edited,” they added. “Michael Madsen was one of Hollywood’s most iconic actors, who will be missed by many.”
Madsen is survived by his estranged wife DeAnna Madsen, whom he filed for divorce from last year, his sisters and his remaining children, including “Divergent” actor Christian Madsen.
Madsen’s son, Hudson, died by suicide in 2022.
