Tia Mowry is clearing the air about her relationship with her sister, sister.
During a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tia, 47, clarified the rumors that she had a falling out with her twin sister Tamera, 47, after claiming last year that the siblings were not “close” anymore.
“Everybody thought that there was this huge rift or distance, and that was not the case,” Tia said in the interview clip released Tuesday.
“The world, they’re so used to seeing all of us together, but at the end of the day, we all grow up,” Tia continued. “We all have our own families. Yes, there’s distance, because we all are doing our own thing, but when something is important to you, or when it is a priority, you will make time for it.”
The “Twitches” actress revealed that the twins are putting in the work to maintain their relationship.
“We’ve made a pact with each other that we’ll reach out once per week, and that’s on Sundays,” she shared.
“So as long as we make time for each other, that’s all that matters,” Tia added.
Later in the interview, Tia, who shares son Cree, 14, and daughter Cairo, 7, with ex-husband Cory Hardrict, praised Tamera for being “a great mother” to son Aden, 13, and daughter Ariah, 10. Tamera shares her children with husband Adam Housley.
“It’s not easy having ambitions and doing what you love to do, and trying to juggle all of that at the same time,” Tia explained. “You know, she’s doing her best to be present for her kids, and she’s doing a great job. I have incredible nieces and nephews. So, yeah, I would say she’s an incredible mother. I’m inspired by that.”
The Mowry sisters rose to fame on the ’90s sitcom “Sister, Sister.” They starred in multiple films together, including “Twitches” (2005) and its 2007 sequel, and had their own reality series, “Tia & Tamera,” that aired on the Style Network from 2011 to 2013.
Last year, Tia shocked fans with an update on her relationship with Tamera.
“It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her. But that’s just not where we are right now,” she said on a Sept. 2024 episode of her WE tv reality series, “Tia Mowry: My Next Act.”
However, a source clarified to People that Tia’s comments about Tamera were in reference to them living far apart.
“The sisters are still close, but the quote being referenced was about the lack of proximity in their physical location — Tamera lives in Napa and Tia lives in Los Angeles,” said the insider.
In May 2024, Tamera claimed that she wasn’t given a heads up about her sister’s reality show, which was cancelled after one season.
“I didn’t know until…I found out with the rest of the world!” Tamera told ET, adding that Tia “didn’t ask me” to be on the show.
