There is a lot of substance to Tallulah Willis’ comments.
The actress, 31, who is the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, shared her thoughts on blended families following Gwyneth Paltrow’s Monday episode of her “Goop” podcast.
Paltrow, 52, sat down with her husband Brad Falchuk, 54, to detail their experience with step-parenting after tying the knot in 2018. The “Shallow Hal” alum shares kids Apple, 20, and Moses, 19, with her ex-husband Chris Martin, 48.
A topic Willis can relate all too well to — considering her mom, 62, was married to Ashton Kutcher, 47, from 2005 to 2013.
“I have a lot to say on this,” she commented on Paltrow’s Instagram post promoting the episode. “Especially how to move through and ex step-parent.”
A social media user responded to Willis, asking if she was referring to Moore and Kutcher.
“This maybe should have been a private message lol,” Willis replied before confirming, “but yes I have personal experience with this.”
Following the end of Moore’s 13-year marriage to Bruce, 70, in 2000, she struck up a romance with Kutcher, who was 15 years her junior.
The “G.I. Jane” alum — who also shares daughters Rumer, 36, and Scout, 33, with Bruce — opened up about marrying Kutcher and eventually splitting in her 2019 memoir “Inside Out.”
“When I met Ashton, it almost felt like a do-over, like I could just go back in time and experience what it was like to be young with him,” the actress penned.
Moore also detailed having a drinking problem during their union, which added tension to the marriage.
She noted that Kutcher said he didn’t know “if alcoholism is a real thing,” which led the “Striptease” vet to start drinking again. Moore wrote that she thought Kutcher wanted “the girl who could have a glass of wine at dinner, or do a tequila shot at a party.”
“I didn’t think, ‘This is a kid in his twenties who has no idea what’s talking about.’ I didn’t think, ‘I have nearly two decades of sobriety under my belt, and that’s a huge accomplishment.’ Instead, I cast about justifications for his argument.”
Along with her struggles with alcohol, Moore suspected the “No Strings Attached” star of being unfaithful. In return, she went to great lengths to try and please him.
“I put him first, so when he expressed his fantasy of bringing a third person into our bed, I didn’t say no,” the actress penned. “I wanted to show him how great and fun I could be … They were good people, but it was still a mistake. I was strangely flooded with shame, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this whole thing was somehow my fault.”
Moore added, “Because we had brought in a third party into our relationship, Ashton said, that blurred the lines and, to some extent, justified what he’s done.”
While promoting her memoir, the Golden Globe winner revealed on “Good Morning America” that she was expecting a baby with Kutcher before they tied the knot. She ended up miscarrying the child at 6 months.
“I can’t even bring fully to words how lost, empty, desperate, confused (I was),” Moore recalled. “I really lost sight of everything that was right in front of me, which is the family I had, and I think the weight that it put on Ashton. It’s kind of a natural thing to pull back when somebody’s clinging too tight.”
Kutcher also reflected on the split, telling Esquire in 2023, “Nothing makes you feel like a failure like divorce. Divorce feels like a wholesale [expletive] failure. You failed at marriage.”
The “Your Place or Mine” alum went on to marry his former “That ’70s Show” co-star Mila Kunis, 41, in 2015 and the couple share daughter Wyatt, 10, and son Dimitri, 8.
Despite moving on, Kutcher tried his best to keep a relationship with Moore’s daughters.
“I make a really conscious effort to stay in touch with the girls,” the actor said while on the “WTF” podcast in 2020. “I love them, and I’m never going to stop loving them, right? And respecting them and honoring them and rooting for them.”
For Willis, the whirlwind romance between Moore and Kutcher left a lasting imprint on her — revealing that 20 years later, there were still things she needed to work through.
“It was like 2003, my mom had just started dating Ashton,” Moore’s daughter explained in 2023. “It was a moment, a lot going on and I really went inside of myself, and that did send me into like a total dumpster fire. It was really hard, and I’m still unpacking.”
