Sundance Head, the country singer who won season 11 of βThe Voice,β was shot on his Texas ranch on Friday.
Jason βSundanceβ Headβs agent Trey Newman told The Post, βheβs stable,β adding that the gunshot wound was βto his naval area.β
βIt missed all vital organs. It was not self-inflicted.β
βWe donβt know if it was an accident with his gun or if it was another hunter nearby,β Newman said.
βThe bullet is lodged in some fatty tissue, and the only way it could have have happened is if it travelled through something else,β the rep explained.
Head, 46, was the one to call 911, Newman shared, adding that he was βlife-flightedβ off of his ranch to a hospital.
βWe thought he was going to go in for immediate surgery,β Newman went on, but said that at this time surgery does not seem necessary.
βIt sounds like theyβre gonna leave it in there,β he said, referring to the bullet.
βHis wife is on the way to the hospital now to get a little more information from the doctors. Weβre not sure if he is awake.β
Earlier on Friday, Head posted a photo on his Facebook page showing the inside of a tent. βWoke up this morning to the sound of silence,β he captioned the photo.
Newman told The Post that Head was hunting on his ranch at the time.
Headβs wife, Misty, shared updates on the singerβs condition on both her and her husbandβs Facebook accounts.
βPraise Jesus! Bullet missed all vital organs,β she wrote on her page Friday evening, as she was driving to the hospital, adding that she was still an hour away.
Shortly before, Misty posted on Headβs page, telling fans, βDoctor just called me bullet went in above his navel and lodged into his abdominal wall missing all vital organs. He will not require surgery as they are not removing the bullet.β
βIβm sure she said why but my head is in a fog right now,β she continued.
βHim being on the bigger side was a good thing. Bullet is in his fatty tissue. Thanks for all the prayers.β
Sundance Head first tried his hand at TV singing competitions on βAmerican Idolβ in 2007, making it to the semifinals of the showβs sixth season before being eliminated. In 2016, he won season 11 of βThe Voice,β with the help of his coach, fellow country crooner Blake Shelton.
Headβs blind audition β a rendition of Otis Reddingβs βIβve Been Loving You Too Longβ β was described by Rolling Stone as one of the best in the showβs history at the time.
Head has released four albums, most recently 2022βs βStarting Again.β
TMZ was first to report the news of Headβs shooting.
