David Gail’s death is reportedly being investigated as authorities are looking into the possibility of a fatal drug overdose.
TMZ reported Monday that law enforcement tells them that no foul play is suspected in the late soap opera star and “Beverly Hills, 90210″ actor’s death, but his official cause of death is depending on toxicology tests.
Police reportedly suspect that Gail may have overdosed, but it is unknown what type of substances they are suspecting.
Gail’s sister, Katie Colmenares, confirmed his death Saturday in an Instagram post, writing, “There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side.”
She continued, “Always my wingman always my best friend ready to face anything and anyone w me the bears will never be the same but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart you gorgeous loving amazing fierce human being missing you every second of every day forever there will never be another.”
Gail is possibly best known for his role as Stuart Carson — Brenda Walsh’s (ShannenDoherty) one-time fiancé — in “Beverly Hills, 90210.”
Peter Ferriero, host of a “Beverly Hills, 90210” rewatch podcast with the show’s producers Charles Rosin and Larry Mollin, also paid tribute to Gail before Colmenares spoke out.
“For those that have contacted me ‘Why is this not showing up on Google?’ Please stop,” Ferriero wrote in an Instagram Story after honoring Gail on the podcast. “The family will report it at the appropriate time to them. I am sharing what I’ve been told to make sure his fans know what has happened. Thank you.”
Gail portrayed Dr. Joe Scanlon in the “General Hospital” spinoff “Port Charles” and appeared in more than 200 episodes of the ABC soap.
He started his career with appearances on “Growing Pains,” “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” “Murder, She Wrote” and “Matlock,” and is also known for his spots on “Robin’s Hoods,” “Savannah,” “The Round Table,” and “JAG.”
The Tampa native was last credited for voicing Sam in the 2019 video game “Blacksad: Under the Skin.”
