Itβs actors on actors.Β
The 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards streamed on Netflix on Sunday, Feb. 23 (live at 8 p.m. ET).
The streaming service broadcasted the SAG Awards for the second year in a row.
Hosted by Kristen Bell, the ceremony honored many of the same nominees that the Golden Globes also honored with some snubs and surprises.Β
In film, βWickedβ led the pack with five nominations, followed by βA Complete Unknownβ with four and βEmilia Perezβ and βAnoraβ each getting three. TimothΓ©e Chalamet won big for βA Complete Unknown,β while βConclaveβ won for best ensemble and Demi Moore won for βThe Substance.β
Denzel Washington was snubbed for βGladiator II,β for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination. Nicole Kidman also got snubbed for βBabygirlβ and Angelina Jolie got snubbed for βMaria.β
But, Pamela Anderson, who the Oscars snubbed for βThe Last Showgirl,β did earn a SAG nomination.Β
In television, βShΓ΅gunβ led the pack with five nominations, followed by βThe Bearβ with four and βThe Penguinβ with three nominations.Β Colin Farrell scored a win for the latter.
Here are all the best and worst moments from the ceremony.
Best β Harrison Ford photobombs the introΒ
The ceremony opened by cutting to various actors like Mikey Madison and Jodie Foster talking to the camera about their first acting gigs. All the actors spoke while sitting at their tables in the audience, so viewers at home could clearly see fellow celebs sitting near them. When it was Jessica Williamsβ turn, Harrison Ford, who was sitting next to her, took a bite of his food β then realized he was on camera, froze, and slowly turned away. It was unclear if it was by accident or if it was a bit. Either way, it was amusing. Realizing that Ford was photobombing her moment, Williams joked, βI told him to turn away!βΒ
BestΒ β Kristen Bell pays homage to actorsβ early roles
In her opening monologue, host Kristen Bell sang a song about how everyone in the room had a dream of becoming an actor. Behind her, a screen played clips of various actorsβ first roles β TimothΓ©e Chalamet, Colin Farrell, Andrew Scott, Zoe SaldaΓ±a. Meanwhile, a camera showed each actor in the audience reacting to seeing their early roles, often with a grimace.Β
Best β All the reunions
During one of Kristen Bellβs segments, Ted Danson interrupted her to argue about whether he or William Jackson Harper was her favorite co-star while filming βThe Good Place.β Later in the show, Jason Segel came out to talk to Bell while wearing his suit on his top half with his bottom half wrapped in a towel, pretending to be nude in a nod to his naked scene in βForgetting Sarah Marshall.β Later in the ceremony, David Duchovny and his βX-Filesβ co-star Gillian Anderson also had a reunion onstage, and former βNew Girlβ co-stars Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield presented the award together for best ensemble in a comedy series and Bell had a moment with former βGossip Girlβ co-star Leighton Meester. It was a night full of reunions.
BestΒ β Kieran Culkinβs speech
Culkin won the award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a supporting roleβ for βA Real Pain.β During his goofy rambling, he pointed out that 45 seconds is the allotted time for each speech and pointedly said, βAdrien Brody,β since Brody was the frontrunner to win the award for lead actor in a movie.Β
He followed up the comment by addressing Brody, saying, βThere was no reason to take that shot, I love you.β He added, βMoving on, I see the clock ticking,β and as he kept speaking, he gave himself a count down, feverishly muttering, β13,12,11 β¦ I havenβt said anything,β as the crowd laughed.Β
Worst β βEmilia Perezβ awkwardly dancing around Karla SofΓa GascΓ³nβs absenceΒ
Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez came out onstage to talk about their film, βEmilia Perez.β
βEvery once in a while, we get a movie that dares to be as unpredictable as life itself,β said Selena Gomez before showing clips from the film.
Looking at the footage, you would think they were the only two stars of the film. You know what else has been βunpredictable,β Selena Gomez? Her co-star Karla SofΓa GascΓ³nβs awards campaign derailing after her controversial social media posts resurfaced. Following that incident, the movie reportedly ditched the actress from the campaign. All this segment did was highlight her conspicuous absence.Β
Worst β Jane Fondaβs speech gets interrupted by a tech glitchΒ
Jane Fonda, 87, was presented with a lifetime achievement award at the ceremony. The Hollywood icon gave a fiery speech. βYour enthusiasm makes it seem less like a twilight of my life and more like a βgo girl, kickass,β which is good, because Iβm not done,β she said.Β
She called her career βtotally unstrategicβ and joked, βProbably in my 90s, Iβll be doing my own stunts in an action movie.β The β9 to 5β star added that since she grew up in the β40s and β50s, when women werenβt supposed to βhave opinionsβ or βget angry,β acting gave her that chance.
This was all well and good, but in the middle of her speech, the sound system malfunctioned, and a disembodied voice over the loudspeaker briefly cut in. Fonda rolled with it, joking, βAnd I can conjure up voices!β But she shouldnβt have had to adjust to that. Somebody messed up, big time.
