Rosie O’Donnell has broken her silence over the death of her “Harriet the Spy” co-star Michelle Trachtenberg.

The “A League of Their Own” star, 62, called Trachtenberg’s sudden passing “heartbreaking.”

“I loved her very much,” O’Donnell said in a statement to Us Weekly. “She struggled the last few years.”

The actress added, “I wish I could have helped.”

O’Donnell starred alongside a 10-year-old Trachtenberg in the budding star’s first movie, the 1996 film adaptation of the children’s novel “Harriet the Spy.”

The Post broke the news of Trachtenberg’s death on Wednesday. The actress was 39.

Her mother found her around 8 a.m. Wednesday at her luxury apartment in Manhattan’s Central Park South neighborhood, sources told The Post.

Trachtenberg was “unconscious and unresponsive” when police arrived to the apartment building after receiving a 911 call for a woman experiencing cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS workers.

Her death is not deemed suspicious and the city medical examiner will determine the cause, cops said.

Trachtenberg’s rep Gary Mantoosh confirmed the star’s death in a statement to The Post.

“It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away. The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time,” Mantoosh said.

The “Gossip Girl” star underwent a liver transplant within the last year. Per sources, it’s believed her body may have rejected the liver transplant and that Trachtenberg died of natural causes.

Among her many credits, “Harriet the Spy” remained important to Trachtenberg over the years. In 2021, the actress became emotional when asked about the movie’s 25th anniversary.

“Don’t you effing make me cry,” she told Entertainment Tonight at the time.

“I turned 10 years old on the first day of principal photography of Harriet the Spy,” the “Euro Trip” star recalled. “Rosie was my biggest supporter. There was a lot required of me. I’m extremely grateful for the experience.”

“She protected me so much,” she added of O’Donnell, who she had just reconnected with over Instagram. “I held her first baby, Parker, on set on Harriet.”

Trachtenberg also spoke about the messages from fans she had seen over the years about how much “Harriet the Spy” meant to them.

“‘You inspired my life.’ ‘You made me become a writer,’ All of those, just beautiful things,” she said of fans’ comments.

Trachtenberg went on to reveal that she endured more than 30 auditions to land the film’s titular role.

“I still have the striped T-shirt that I auditioned with in a memory box,” she also shared.
