Rob Reiner’s eldest daughter, actress Tracy Reiner, is speaking out after the director and his wife, Michele Reiner, were found stabbed to death inside their LA home on Sunday.
Tracy, 61, was adopted by the “All in the Family” actor during his marriage to the late Penny Marshall. The pair were married for 10 years from 1971 to 1981.
“I came from the greatest family ever,” Tracy told NBC News. “I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”
Tracy starred as Betty “Betty Spaghetti” Horn in 1992’s “A League of Their Own,” which Penny directed. Penny was married to Tracy’s biological dad, athlete Michael Henry, from 1963 to 1967.
Penny and Rob, meanwhile, grew up across the street from each other in the Bronx.
“[We] didn’t know each other,” Penny told People in 2012. “I loved him dearly.”
Penny died at 75 in December 2018, and Rob called her “a gift” at the time.
“She was born with a funnybone and the instinct of how to use it. I was very lucky to have lived with her and her funnybone. I will miss her,” he said.
The “When Harry Met Sally” director, 78, and Michele, 68, were also parents of sons Jake and Nick Reiner and daughter Romy Reiner.
Romy found her parents with their throats slit Sunday afternoon, according to sources, with 32-year-old Nick later being arrested for their murders. Sources told The Post that stab wounds to their throats were among multiple wounds on their bodies.
According to TMZ, Romy told investigators that a relative “should be a suspect” because they’re “dangerous” and that the tragedy seemingly occurred during a heated argument.
Nick had been battling drug addiction for years, having first gone to rehab at the age of 15.
“I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas,” he told People in a 2016 interview. “I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.”
Nick co-wrote a semiautobiographical film called “Being Charlie” about his 17 visits to rehab. The 2015 film was directed by his famous dad.
“That made me who I am now, having to deal with that stuff,” he told the outlet. “I met crazy great people there, so out of my element. Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in LA and being around my family.”
As the news sends shock waves throughout Hollywood, Billy Crystal was spotted outside Rob’s Brentwood home on Sunday evening, ABC 7 reported. A neighbor added that “Seinfeld” creator Larry David arrived at the home separately.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” Reiner’s family said in a statement on Sunday. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
