Sheβs an AI survivor.
Country music star Reba McEntire slammed artificial intelligence this week after a series of AI-generated photos appeared to suggest Dolly Parton was dying, forcing the βJoleneβ star to speak out and dismiss the rumors.
βYou tell βem, Dolly,β McEntire, 70, said in a video shared to her Instagram Stories on Thursday. βThat AI mess has got us doing all kinds of crazy things. Youβre out there dying, Iβm out here having a baby.β
βWell, both of us know youβre too young, and Iβm too old for any of that kind of nonsense,β the fellow Queen of Country added before tagging Parton, 79.
McEntire did, however, wish the βIslands in the Streamβ singer well as she continues to suffer βhealth challengesβ that have left fans concerned.
βBut you better know Iβm praying for you. I love you with all my heart, and I canβt wait to see you soon,β the βFancyβ singer concluded. βLove you!β McEntire captioned the clip: βToo old to die, too young for babies.β
Concerns regarding Partonβs health kicked off when sheΒ announced that she was postponingΒ her Las Vegas residency dates on Sept. 28.
At the time, the country music star said that she was βdealing with some health challengesβ and βmy doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.β
But Partonβs younger sister, Freida, caused further alarmΒ when she asked fans to prayΒ for the βHere You Come Againβ songstress in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Although Freida laterΒ clarified that she βdidnβt mean to scare anyoneβΒ or βmake it sound so seriousβ when she asked for prayers for her famous older sister, Parton still took to Instagram toΒ set the record straight on the concernsΒ surrounding her health.
βI know lately, everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am,βΒ the 11-time Grammy winner began Wednesday. βDo I look sick to you? Iβm working hard here!β
βI wanted to put everybodyβs mind at ease, those of you that seemed to be real concerned, which I appreciate and I appreciate your prayers βcause Iβm a person of faith,β she continued.
Parton then admitted that she βdidnβt take care of myselfβ following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, in March, and that she βlet a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of.β
The βI Will Always Love Youβ writer also laughed about an AI-generated image depicting McEntire praying and wiping away tears as a dying Parton, hooked up to a tube, lies in a hospital bed.
βDid you see that AI picture of Reba and me? Oh lordy, I mean, they had Reba at my death bed and we both looked like we need to be buried,β she joked.
βBut I thought, oh my lord, but if I was really dying, I donβt think Reba would be the one at my death bed,β Parton added. βShe might come visit me earlier.β
As for McEntireβs remark about βthat AI messβ showing her βout here having a baby,β she was referring to another recently viral AI-generated image depicting the βIβm a Survivorβ hitmaker withΒ her fiancΓ©, Rex Linn, while cradling a pregnant belly and holding up an ultrasound photo.
