Quinton Aaron’s family has shared a troubling health update as “The Blind Side” star remains “fighting for his life” on life support in the hospital.
Doctors reportedly found a rare cyst on the 41-year-old actor’s spine while running a series of tests, his loved ones told TMZ on Tuesday.
Although doctors are said to be running additional exams to determine whether the cyst is benign, Aaron’s family told the outlet that the “Be Kind Rewind” star may have to undergo back surgery.
Back surgery would result in “extensive physical therapy” and potentially leave Aaron “confined to a wheelchair” for the foreseeable future, his family said.
The Post has reached out to Aaron’s rep for further comment.
Aaron is best known for portraying NFL offensive lineman Michael Oher opposite Sandra Bullock’s Leigh Anne Tuohy in the Oscar-winning 2009 film “The Blind Side.”
He was rushed to the hospital after his legs suddenly gave out while walking up the stairs of his Atlanta, Georgia, home late last week, his manager told TMZ on Sunday.
After a few days in the hospital, Aaron was put “on life support due to a severe blood infection,” per a GoFundMe set up on the actor’s behalf.
The fundraising page noted that the actor was “fighting for his life” and described the incident as “sudden, frightening, and overwhelming” for Aaron’s loved ones.
“As he fights for his life, his family is facing an immense emotional and financial burden — medical expenses, living costs, and the uncertainty of how long this road to recovery may be,” the GoFundMe page, which Veterans Aid Network organized, read.
“Quinton has spent his life inspiring others, reminding us that compassion and humanity still matter in this world,” it continued. “Now, as he fights one of the hardest battles of his life, let’s surround him with that same love.”
The “Halfway” star’s manager, however, told TMZ that Aaron was in stable condition, communicating with loved ones and receiving appropriate care.
Aaron’s wife, Margarita, said that the actor was “making significant progress” with “little moments where he’s moving his fingers or trying to open his eyes.”
“Although he seemed like he was a little lucid, he was not very responsive,” Maragrita told Fox News Digital regarding her visit with Aaron on Sunday.
“I did at least get a thumbs up out of him when I chatted with him, which was promising,” she added. “At this point, the endotracheal tube or the breathing assistance that he has is not doing all the work, thankfully.”
Aaron’s hospitalization comes just a few months after “The Blind Side” star revealed that he lost 200 pounds during a recent weight loss journey.
The actor’s latest health scare also comes after several additional medical issues for Aaron – including an emergency trip to a California hospital after he developed a fever and began coughing up blood in March 2025, per TMZ.
Doctors believed that Aaron was suffering from Type A flu and pneumonia after running multiple tests during his March health scare, the outlet reported.
Aaron was also said to have battled a severe upper respiratory infection back in 2019.
