Queen Camilla once hated the idea of becoming queen βΒ and had strong opposing thoughts about royal protocol, according to a new royal book.
In βYes, Maβam: The Secret Life of Royal Servants,β royal author Tom Quinn lays bare Camillaβs alleged feelings on various aspects of royal life.
In an excerpt published inΒ the Times of London, Quinn writes that the kingβs wife once complained to Charles about having to follow royal protocol.
βOne member of staff told me that at one point, Camilla hated the idea of being queen and would regularly say to Charles, βCanβt we get away from all this protocol?ββ Quinn wrote.
βItβs all bollocks,β the queen allegedly added.
And when Camilla, 77, reportedly told the king she had no interest in becoming queen, βCharles, who hates swearing, would demurely reply, βYouβre doing it [becoming queen] for me, darling,ββ Quinn wrote.
According to the royal author, βprotocol means suits must be pressed and laid out after a period of consultation the night before,β and shoes βmust be polished.β
Meanwhile, baths should βbe run at precisely the same time each day,β Quinn adds.
Whatβs more, Quinn added that the monarch, 76, and his eldest son and future king, Prince William, are βprone to tantrums if things are not done to their liking.β
βThey both get irritated very quickly,β a former palace staffer told Quinn. βThey are very picky. It comes naturally to them.β
The Post has reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment.
It comes just months after Camillaβs sister-in-law, Princess Anne, blocked her attempt at breaking royal protocol during an official engagement.
After the pair arrived together at the University of London for an event in November, they were escorted into the Senate House, where the ceremony took place.
To show respect to Anne, Camilla invited her to enter the room first β breaking the first step of the protocol that has been in place since 1066.
Anne, who is all too familiar with the royal familyβs order of precedence, βsmiled and politely refusedβ β instead welcoming Camilla to enter the room first.
During public-facing duties, royals are expected to respect the βsequential hierarchy of nominal importance,β meaning that their majesties are to always enter the room first.
And while Anne, who is the only daughter of the lateΒ Queen Elizabeth IIΒ and Prince Philip, was born into royalty, she still ranks below King Charlesβ wife within the Firm.
Elsewhere in his book, Quinn wrote that Prince William felt increasingly βuncomfortableβ with Meghan Markleβs βconstant hugging.β
