This royal is on the mend.
Princess Michael of Kent broke both of her wrists after a brutal fall at Kensington Palace.Β
The Princess, 79, fell down the stairs of the royal residence she lives at with her husband,Β Prince MichaelΒ of Kent, per theΒ Daily MailΒ on Thursday.
She attendedΒ King CharlesβΒ pre-Christmas lunchΒ at Buckingham Palace the same day with both of her wrists in splints, according to the outlet.
βSo many things that you rely on being able to do, like cleaning your teeth, are impossible,β the royal member explained, per the outlet. βI can type with one finger on a mobile, but I canβt use a laptop.β
βI am told that, after an accident like this, if you do one wrong movement on top of the unhealed bones, you are back where you started,β she added.
The royal had her arms full with overcoats when the accident happened, according to Daily Mail, and as a result broke multiple small bones when she used her hands to break the fall.Β
Princess Michael was born Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnitz but goes by her husbandβs title, as heβs the late Queen Elizabethβs first cousin. Princess Michael appeared in good spirits as she heals. She was photographed smiling while heading to the kingβs traditional lunch before Christmas with her husband.
Reports recently surfaced that Princess Michael also had heart surgery a year ago.
βIt shocked me. I still have to rest every afternoon,β Princess Michael said in quotes attributed toΒ Majesty Magazine, in an interview published on Tuesday.
The royal member also touched on the shocking suicide of her son-in-law, Thomas Kingston, for the first time. Kingston was married to Prince and Princess Michaelβs daughter,Β Lady Gabriella Windsor, for five years before his death in February at age 45.
Β A gun was found next to his body, which was discovered at his parentsβ home in the Cotswolds.
The coroner said his cause of death wasΒ a βtraumatic wound to the head.βΒ The official also concluded that Kingston took his own life.
Kingston wed Lady Gabriella in May 2019. He was a financier, former hostage negotiator and ex-boyfriend of Kate Middletonβs sister, Pippa Middleton.
The royal and her family released a statement on Feb. 27 confirming Kingstonβs death.
βIt is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother,β the statement read. βTom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family, and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing.βΒ
Lady GabriellaΒ spoke about her late husbandβs deathΒ in an emotional witness statement read aloud at the Gloucestershire Coronerβs Court on Dec. 3,Β the TelegraphΒ reported.
βIt appears to me Tomβs impulsive action was likely provoked by an adverse reaction to the medication he had been taking in the last two weeks of his life,β her written statement read.
Gabriella also claimed that her husband had never expressed any suicidal thoughts to her or others,Β Hello!Β reported.
β[Work] was certainly a challenge for him over the years, but I highly doubt it would have led him to take his own life, and it seemed much improved,β she elaborated.
