Princess Ines of Sweden has made her very first palace balcony appearance in honor of King Carl XVI Gustaf’s birthday celebrations.
The royal, who was born just two months ago, was met with loud cheers and a warm reception during her first official outing for her grandfather’s 79th birthday.
On Wednesday, the Swedish royal family appeared on the balcony of the Royal Palace in the capital city of Stockholm, as Princess Sofia held her newborn, who was dressed in a white bonnet, in her arms.
Sofia welcomed baby Ines with her husband, Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Värmland, in February. The princess was the couple’s fourth child and first daughter.
The royal couple were already proud parents to sons Prince Alexander, 9, Prince Gabriel, 7, and Prince Julian, 4, who are fifth, sixth and seventh in line to the Swedish throne, respectively.
During the celebrations, which were led by the Armed Forces, Princess Sofia carried the newborn onto the balcony, where her husband and their sons were standing.
The mother-daughter duo matched in darling white outfits for the occasion, while Prince Carl Philip, 45, was dressed in military attire.
Other Swedish royals joining in on the celebration included Crown Princess Victoria, who is next in line to the throne.
They were later joined by the rest of the family, including Queen Silvia, Victoria’s husband Prince Daniel and their children, Princess Estelle, 13, and Prince Oscar, 9.
Princess Madeleine and her husband, Christopher O’Neill, also joined in on the fun, as well as their children Princess Leonore, 11, Prince Nicolas, 9, and Princess Adrienne, 7.
In February, the Swedish royal family shared their delight at the news of baby Ines’ birth.
“Princess Ines photographed by Princess Sofia,” the Feb. 7 Instagram post read, announcing the princess to the world.
“We are happy to welcome our newborn daughter into the world,” the prince said in Swedish following his daughter’s birth. “The big brothers are now looking forward to getting to know their new little sister.”
Days after her arrival, the proud parents posted a sweet snap of Ines with her siblings.
“It was a perfect little quartet♥️,” they captioned the heartwarming image on Instagram. “A big and warm thank you for all the nice congratulations to our little Ines💕.”
The princess, who is eighth in line to the throne, will be christened at Drottningholm Palace Chapel in Stockholm on her parents’ tenth wedding anniversary on June 13.
Prior to giving birth to Ines, Sofia told Vogue Scandinavia that she “always, always, always dreamt of a family.”
“It’s one of my biggest goals in life. Not everyone has that — I had that,” she told the outlet in December 2024.
“Both me and my husband come from a family of five — with three kids — so we thought that that would be a good number, and we felt quite satisfied with that.”
“But, gratefully, there’s a bonus on the way. We feel very humble and grateful. It was maybe not in the plan, but now we are very, very excited. Especially the kids,” she added.
