The future king is calling.
Prince William made a shocking cameo on “Dancing with the Stars” Tuesday night to show support for contestant Robert Irwin.
The Prince of Wales, 43, surprised Irwin, 21, and his partner, Witney Carson, with a virtual message during the dance duo’s pre-performance video package.
“Apparently, we have a special call,” Irwin told Carson, 32. “I don’t know who it is. Let’s see.”
As William popped up on a video call, Irwin and Carson were shocked and overjoyed.
“How was Rio?” Irwin asked, referring to the Nov. 5 Earthshot Prize ceremony in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Irwin, who is an Earthshot global ambassador, had to miss the event because of his commitment to “DWTS.”
“We’re missing you, Robert,” William told Irwin. “Whilst your twinkle toes are going off elsewhere, I need you down here.”
William then jokingly told Carson, “Witney, you need to get him in as much glitter as you can.”
“Listen, I am trying,” the pro dancer replied.
“Guys, you’ve got a seriously good chance of winning it,” William said to Irwin and Carson before signing off. “So, just the best of luck on the show.”
“Means the absolute world, thank you so much,” Irwin replied. “See you soon.”
After the call ended, Irwin and Carson sat on the couch in disbelief.
“I can’t believe he just said my name!” Carson said.
Irwin then declared that they were doing their dance — a Foxtrot to Leona Lewis’ “Footprints in the Sand” — for both William and Irwin’s sister, Bindi, who danced to the same song the season she won.
“So let’s not mess this up,” Irwin told Carson.
The Earthshot Prize is a global environmental award launched by William and The Royal Foundation to find and fund solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges.
“We search the globe for game-changing examples of climate leadership and innovation, helping them to grow and awarding the very best five solutions each year with £1 million each to scale their work,” the Earthshot Prize’s website reads.
Irwin, son of the the late Steve Irwin, previously joined William for the 2024 Earthshot awards in Cape Town, South Africa.
In June, Irwin appeared on a U.K. radio show hosted by Scott Mills and was surprised with a voice note message from William, who invited him to the Earthshot Prize in Brazil.
“I know you’ve got the fantastic Robert Irwin on the show this morning, a brilliant ambassador for the Earthshot Prize,” William said.
The father of three also jokingly warned Mills that Irwin “likes to pull random terrifying animals and creatures out of his pockets while he’s on anyone’s show and talking to them.”
