Prince Harry needed to keep a “dignified silence” if he ever wanted a chance at a royal reconciliation with his estranged family members, according to a royal commentator.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, on Friday sat down with the BBC for a bombshell interview just hours after he lost his appeal for taxpayer-funded UK security for him and his family.

In addition to expressing interest in burying the hatchet with the royals, the Invictus Games founder highlighted his concerns of his cancer-stricken father’s ailing health.

Joe Little, the managing editor of Majesty magazine, has since weighed in on the discourse, calling the “Spare” author’s comments about his estranged father’s health “quite alarming.”

“From what Harry is saying, despite admitting that he has not spoken to his father for some time, I thought it sent out a bit of a mixed message, really,” Little told the PA news agency, via the Mirror.

“Is Harry suggesting that the King isn’t as well as we are led to believe?”

Little added that Harry has given the royals “nothing” by continuously publicly speaking out against them, suggesting that he simply can’t be trusted with private information.

“I think for somebody who is seeking reconciliation with his father, his brother and his family, his royal family as a whole, I think the very last thing that he should have been doing was talking publicly,” he said.

“He clearly feels aggrieved at the outcome of this legal action but there is a great deal to be gained by maintaining a dignified silence — sadly, as we know from from past events, this isn’t Harry’s way of doing things.”

“Maybe lessons just haven’t been learned from previous occasions where also silence would have been the very best thing to maintain,” he added.

Little said that the overall situation as “a very unfortunate state of affairs.”

In his BBC interview last week, Harry addressed his estrangement from the royals, saying he was “devastated” by the court’s decision not to reinstate publicly funded security in his homeland.

He also revealed that his father “won’t speak to me because of this security stuff” — though admitted he “would love to reconcile” with his family.

“Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has,” he said about Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer last year.

The court’s bombshell ruling prompted Buckingham Palace to shared a rare statement about the situation.

“All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion,” a palace spokesperson said.
