Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be hoping that someday soon the fates will allow they be together with the royal family at Christmas, according to reports.
The holiday is looking to be βbittersweetβ for the couple as they are βmissingβ spending the most wonderful time of year with the royal family, the Mirror reports.
Meanwhile, OK! claims that Harry, 40, is acutely aware that he wonβt have anyone from his side with him to enjoy Christmas and regrets that his children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, wonβt get to play with their cousins during the holiday as he did growing up.
βFor Harry, it reminds him that he doesnβt have any of his side of the family to celebrate with,β a source reportedly told OK! βThe kids wonβt be seeing their cousins, and that was one of his favorite things growing up β all the cousins playing together at Sandringham.β
βIt may well even hurt seeing all the royals together, going to church and just enjoying each otherβs company,β the insider added.
Harry β who has admitted he was βaddictedβ to reading press reports about his wife β will doubtless see pictures of his older brother William and his sister-in-law Kate joining King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other family members for their traditional Christmas morning walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church whether they attend a holiday service.
Harry and Meghan once joined the Windsor clan for that service prior to their stepping down from their roles as senior working royals in 2020.
For Meghan, 43, the holiday is said to be βtoughβ because of her rift with her father, Thomas Markle.
βMeghan only has her mum [Doria Ragland], as thereβs almost zero chance of a reconciliation between her and her dad,β an insider alleged to OK!.
β[Harry and Meghan] both really wish that they could have all their families together andΒ have a huge Christmas but they know that will never happen. So they have to make new memories and traditions with their children and those close to them.β
The Post has reached out to reps for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for comment.
Meghanβs half-sister, Samantha Markle, 60, recently spoke about Meghanβs falling out with their father.
βMeghan has no idea what she is missing out on because when my dad [Thomas] goes, it will be too late,β Samantha recentlyΒ told the Daily Mail,Β adding that Meghan has had βmissed opportunities.β
Harry and Meghan will be spending Christmas at their Montecito, Calif., mansion with Meghanβs mom Doria, The Post has confirmed.
The couple reportedly did not receive an invite to spend the holidays with the royal family. However, Harryβs uncle Earl Spencer β Princess Dianaβs younger brother β did extend an offer for Harry and Meghan to join his motherβs side of the family at the Spencerβs ancestral home, Althorp in West Northamptonshire, England.
Harry and Meghan are believed to have declined the invite due to their security concerns over traveling to the UK.
