GOSSIP & RUMORS: Perez Hilton reveals what he really thinks about stars on Ozempic

Perez Hilton has a new obsession — and it’s got Hollywood’s elite shedding pounds faster than you can say “paparazzi.”

Since hitting the scene, GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy have taken Tinseltown by storm, with A-listers looking thinner than they have in decades.

The Post caught up with the infamous gossip blogger to get his take on celebs riding the GLP-1 wave and his mission to make the game-changing drugs accessible to more than just the stars.

The US is facing a major waistline crisis, with nearly three-quarters of adults classified as overweight or obese, alongside almost half of teens and young adults.

But there’s a glimmer of hope: Obesity rates dipped slightly in 2023, marking the first decrease in at least a decade. Experts believe the drop is likely linked to the nation’s GLP-1 craze, which has been fueled by celebrity endorsements and online influencers.

Surveys show that roughly one in eight American adults have tried a GLP-1 drug, which mimics a natural hormone in the body to regulate insulin and blood sugar levels, helping users feel fuller longer.

“It’s a game-changer for so many people who have felt helpless for so long,” said Hilton.

“Now, there is help, and there’s no stigma anymore,” he continued. “Oprah is talking about it. Whoopi [Goldberg] is talking about it. Adam Lambert is talking about it. All the ‘Housewives‘ are doing it.”

Hilton said that while celebrities don’t owe the public an explanation about their medical history, he thinks it’s “wonderful” that stars are opening up about their weight loss struggles and experiences with the trendy meds.

“What I don’t like are the ones that are deceptive about it,” he said. “Kelly Clarkson, I’m talking about you. She was very cagey with how she spoke about it. Either don’t talk about it, or just be honest.”

The “Because of You” singer had credited her dramatic transformation to diet, exercise and even infrared saunas and cold plunges in an interview with People magazine last January, but made no mention of weight loss drugs.

Months later, Clarkson admitted to taking a prescription drug to help her lose weight during a conversation with Goldberg on her talk show.

“Everybody thinks it’s Ozempic, but it’s not,” she said. “It’s something that aids in helping break down the sugar — obviously my body doesn’t do it right.”

While several A-listers have been transparent about their use of GLP-1s, insiders say many more stars — including those who have never seemed to struggle with their weight — are on the bandwagon.

“Even really skinny people like to be on Ozempic, especially these people in Hollywood because they don’t get hungry,” Dr. Jennifer Levine, a plastic surgeon on the Upper East Side, told Page Six.

She added that once stars hit their goal weight, many continue using GLP-1s to curb hunger and maintain their figures.

“They can’t get off it,” Levine said. “Even people that are super, super thin might be on micro doses because they’re able to maintain their weight and don’t feel like they’re starving themselves.”

Hilton, who has battled with his weight for years as a self-proclaimed “food addict,” takes issue with this approach.

“I really think it should only be for those who truly need it,” he said. “I’m a perfect example. I wanted to get on it and FuturHealth told me no.”

The telehealth platform reached out to Hilton about a potential partnership, and he was intrigued by the idea of trying the weight loss drug. However, after further testing, he was told he didn’t qualify.

Despite this setback, Hilton remains passionate about raising awareness of the benefits of GLP-1s, particularly given the challenges he’s faced in his own weight loss journey.

At his heaviest, Hilton tipped the scales at 255 pounds.

“When I would have qualified, I would have taken it in a heartbeat,” he said.

Hilton acknowledged that some people may take issue with celebrities and influencers promoting medical products, but he’s undeterred.

“This is something that is so positive for people’s health,” he said. “You could be promoting getting fat lips or a facelift.”

In addition to doctor-prescribed medication, FuturHealth offers personalized diet programs and nutritional coaching to help people lose weight in a healthy way.

The company operates on a membership-based model, offering virtual care, free generic weight loss drugs, and other benefits for a monthly fee.
