Nikki Glaser is staying away from this pretty woman.
During an interview on “CBS Mornings” Monday, the comedian, 41, revealed that Julia Roberts is the celebrity she’s most afraid of roasting at the upcoming 2026 Golden Globe Awards, which she’s hosting Sunday night.
“We have so many huge A-listers that I grew up really admiring, and it’s really for me to take down the newer batch of actresses and actors younger than me,” Glaser explained. “Like, ‘OK, I can make fun of you. I’m like a veteran.’ But when it’s like people I grew up admiring, it’s a different approach this year.”
“I’m trying out my monologue around LA at the clubs here and any joke about Julia Roberts, they are not there for,” Glaser continued. “You can not make fun of America’s Sweetheart. So whatever I end up saying about her, that is the most fine-tuned joke I’ve worked on so hard because it is very delicate.’”
Glaser added, “They were booing. I was like, ‘Is she here?’ It’s insane. I get it though.”
Last year, Glaser crushed her Golden Globes hosting debut, roasting some of the most famous people in the room including Ariana Grande, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Timothée Chalamet and Harrison Ford in her opening monologue.
On “CBS Mornings,” Glaser explained that she’s going to be “delicate” with her jokes at this year’s award show.
“But you also want to give the people at home something to laugh at and you want to poke fun at the people they’re dying for you to make fun of,” she told the hosts. “Like people at home want you to make fun of the A-listers. They want you to make them feel a little bit uncomfortable. It’s covert in the sense that I want to get away with those jokes without ruining the vibe in the room. It’s really strategic and one of the most difficult jobs I’ve had.”
Roberts, 58, is a 2026 Golden Globes nominee for her role in the psychological thriller “After the Hunt.” She’s nominated for best actress in a motion picture — drama against Jessie Buckley (“Hamnet”), Jennifer Lawrence (“Die My Love”), Renate Reinsve (“Sentimental Value”), Tessa Thompson (“Hedda”) and Eva Victor (“Sorry, Baby”).
Glaser actually has a history with Roberts. In 2024, the comedian brought her parents to Taylor Swift’s concert in Dublin and they mocked the viral video of Roberts tickling Swift’s now-fiancé, Travis Kelce, in the VIP tent.
Glaser’s mom, Julie, called the married actress “gross” and “weird,” while Glaser’s dad, Edward, claimed Kelce, 36, was “trying to get away from” the Oscar winner.
The next day, Glaser shared a video of her mother apologizing for the comments about Roberts.
“I probably should’ve said something different than the word ‘gross,’” Julie said. “It’s a weird word. It’s not a nice word … So, I’m issuing an apology right now for using the word ‘gross,’ but I think it was really weird.”
