From plastic to golden.
Nikki Glaser, who is hosting the 2025 Golden Globes, rescheduled some planned plastic surgery in order to take the gig.
“For January 2025, I was going to possibly have, like, a brow lift or some kind of, like, really invasive surgery that I’ve been, you know, looking into getting,” the comedian, 40, told CBS in an interview published Sunday.
But, when her agents called her with the opportunity to host the Globes, she recalled that they asked her, “So, this operation, is there any way you could push it ’til maybe the second week of January?’”
Glaser is also among this year’s crop of nominees, for her 2024 comedy special “Someday You’ll Die.”
Glaser, who also hosts the reality dating series “F Boy Island,” told the outlet that writing the special’s theme song is one of the things she’s proudest of “in my entire life.”
“I’m gonna nail it,” she said about the upcoming ceremony. Famously, last year’s Golden Globes host, comedian Joy Koy, bombed with a disastrous performance.
“Not a great job by the host, huh?” fellow comedian Rosie O’Donnell said about Koy last year.
Glaser continued about her plans, “Maybe I won’t nail it in some people’s eyes, but I will have nailed it in my eyes because I have set up a system leading up to it that I couldn’t possibly work harder on it.”
Her plan includes working with a team of writers like Sean O’Conner, Jessica Dweck, and Glaser’s boyfriend, Chris Convy, and testing the jokes on the road and in small LA clubs.
Glaser has been in Hollywood for over a decade, but she rose to greater prominence for her performance during the Netflix roast of Tom Brady in May, which led to her landing the coveted Globes spot.
She told the outlet that she approached Netflix asking to participate in the roast.
“I was like, ‘Tell Tom Brady I’m the Tom Brady of roasting.’ It’s flattery, but it’s also true. I meant it. I really feel like Tom Brady is a guy that worked hard enough to become how great he is,” she said.
Following the roast, Glaser told Vanity Fair, “I ascended in my career more than I ever have, overnight. It just doesn’t happen today with how oversaturated the content is — that all eyes are on something like this. Outside of Will Smith slapping me, I don’t think I’ll get this much attention as a comedian in my life.”
She admitted that she’s still nervous, but she thrives on anxiety.
“I like feeling like, ‘Oh, what’s gonna happen?’ I like that feeling. I kill it when I’m anxious.”
