Naomi Campbell has broken her silence on her ex-boyfriend Liam Payneโs tragic death at age 31.
The British supermodel, 54, dated the late One Direction star for four months in 2019 when she was 48 and he was 25.
On Friday, the catwalk icon took to social media to comment on her pal Nicole Scherzingerโs Instagram post paying tribute to the pop star who fell to his death from a third-floor balcony of a hotel room in Argentina.
Scherzinger, who served as a celebrity judge on โX Factorโ when Payne was a contestant in 2010, wrote a heartfelt message to the late singer.
Keeping her message short, Campbell commented, โ๐๏ธ๐๐๏ธ๐๐พ,โ on the Pussycat Dolls starโs post.
Campbell, who was 23 years his senior during their brief romance, exchanged some flirty messages with the โStrip That Downโ singer in January 2019.
โPerfection in a person โฆ donโt give me those eyes,โ Payne commented on one of her social media posts, to which she replied, โBeautiful soul.โ
Later that month, the duo attended a concert together for Nigerian artist Davido in London. The following month, they were seen stepping out for dinner in Ghana.
Itโs not clear if Campbell kept in touch with Payne in recent years. However, Scherzinger was reportedly exchanging messages with Payne on the same day he plunged to his death on Oct. 16.
โI will forever cherish and treasure the time we shared together, from fifteen years ago when One Direction was born, right up until just a few weeks ago,โ the โButtonsโ hitmaker wrote in part. โItโs been so hard to process that youโre no longer here, but I am grateful to have known your kind heart, sweet soul and character.โ
Payne, whoย had a toxic mixture of drugsย in his system, died instantlyย of massive internal and external injuries suffered in the fall.
In addition to theย pink cocaine, aka Tusiย โ a combination of methamphetamine, ketamine and ecstasy โ the drugs detected in his bloodstream through toxicology screening included benzodiazepine, crack, and cocaine.
A makeshift aluminum pipe for ingesting the substances was also found nearby, ABC News reported.
His distraught father, Geoff Payne, has been warned he could have to wait for up to 10 days to get permission to take his sonโs body home.
On Thursday, police raided the hotel room Payne had been staying in at the time of his death. Cops are reportedly on the hunt for โnew intelโ about the hotelโs staffers.
The hotel โmust provideโ more security camera footage from Oct. 16.
Officials were searching for documents within the Casa Surโs registration books as part of the raid, in addition to information stored in its computers.
