Itβs not model behavior.Β
Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been banned from serving as a charity trustee for five years after an investigation from a watchdog group found evidence of alleged financial misconduct.Β
On Tuesday, the UKβs Charity Commission released a statement reporting their findings about Fashion For Relief, an organization that Campbell, 54, founded.Β
βFashion for Relief, which has been removed from the register of charities, was set up for the purpose of poverty relief and advancing health and education by making grants to charities or other organizations and by giving resources directly to those affected,β the statement read.Β
According to the report, between April 2016 and July of 2022, only a paltry 8.5% of the charityβs overall expenditure was on charitable grants.
βThe inquiry saw no evidence that trustees had reviewed the charityβs operating model to ensure fundraising methods were in the charityβs best interest and costs were reasonable relative to income generated,β the report continued.
βIt also found some of the charityβs fundraising expenditure was not reasonable.βΒ
Campbellβs charity held star-studded events to raise money, ostensibly for the cause of poverty relief.Β
But, according to the Independent, βtens of thousandsβ of pounds were spent on luxury hotel rooms, spa treatments, and personal security for Campbell.
Two of Campbellβs fellow trustees were also banned.Β
Regarding Campbellβs charity, Tim Hopkins, the Charity Commission Deputy Director for Specialist Investigations and Standards said in a statement, βTrustees are legally required to make decisions that are in their charityβs best interests and to comply with their legal duties and responsibilities. Our inquiry has found that the trustees of this charity failed to do so, which has resulted in our action to disqualify them.β―β
This is just the latest scandal for Campbell, who famously faced assault charges in 2006 for throwing a phone at her maid. The supermodel pleaded guilty.Β
βI couldnβt believe the pain. I had so much pain back there,β 42-year-old maid Ana Scolavino told The Post at the time.Β
Campbell βjust exploded,β a police source said, accusing Scolavino of stealing jeans.
According to Scolavino, the model screamed, βYouβre going to have to pay for those!β before bashing the housekeeper with a Nokia phone.
βIβm never gonna get away from it. Itβs part of my history,β Campbell told Elle magazine about the incident.Β
βI was remorseful and regretful. Iβve served. I did that time. And I never want to be in that position again.β
In 1998, Campbell admitted to assaulting her then-assistant, Georgina Galanis, while filming the movie, βPrisoner of Love.βΒ
At the time, the BBC reported that Campbell was accused of lunging at Galanis and βgrabbed her by the throat and shook her. Ms. Galanis fell to the sofa, shaking and in tears.β
In 2000, Campbellβs other assistant, Vanessa Frisbee accused the supermodel of assault, too.Β
In 2008, CampbellΒ pleaded guilty to four counts for assaulting a police officer at Heathrow Airport for flying into a rage over a missing suitcase.Β
Earlier this month, Campbell also made headlines when she attended an event with Anna Wintour, who called her out for being late. The powerful Vogue editor-in-chief took the stage to present theΒ Fashion Icon AwardΒ to Campbell and was annoyed because the model hadnβt shown up yet.
βI am a very punctual person, and I have the honor of presenting tonight to someone who is often late,βΒ WintourΒ told the crowd. She left immediately after the speech and went to the US Open.
However, a source familiar with the situation exclusively told The Post that Campbell was not technically late to the function as she was slated to speak at 7:27 p.m. and arrived at 7:26 p.m. Wintourβs speech began at 7:15 p.m.
Harperβs Bazaar Editor-in-Chief Samira Nasr ended up presenting Campbell with the award. When the runway vixen took the stage, she hit back at Wintour.
βYes, Naomiβs always late,β she began, βbut I believe in my high power, and I want to thank my higher power for having me be here.β
βItβs so important that Iβm here today, and Iβm honored to be here in Harlem. Everythingβs going to work out the way itβs going to work out. It wasnβt my choice to have the other lady. Iβd much rather have this,β Campbell stated while motioning toward Nasr.
