Dolly Parton wonβt let anything stop her from working 9 to 5.
According to her goddaughter Miley Cyrus, the country star, 79, is rising past her health issues from earlier this year.
βSheβs always gonna keep the show going,β Cyrus, 33, toldΒ Entertainment TonightΒ on Monday. βThe show must go on. Sheβs just excited to get back to work.β
In September, PartonΒ missedΒ the opening event ofΒ Dollywoodβs new Night Flight Expedition ride.
The singer said in a video message: βHello Dollywood! Itβs me. I know β and Iβm here, and youβre there. And youβre wondering why that is? Well, I had a little problem. I had a kidney stone that was causing me a lot of problems, turned out itβd given me an infection, and the doctor said, βYou donβt need to be traveling right this minute, so you need a few days to get better.’β
However, a week later Parton postponed her Las Vegas residency.
βAs many of you know, Iβve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,β she penned onΒ InstagramΒ at the time. βAs I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 check-up, although itβs not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!β
Due to her health issues, Parton explained that she canβt βrehearse and put together a show that I want you to see.β
Instead, the six shows scheduled for the Colosseum at Caesars Palace have been pushed from December of this year to September 2026.
βDonβt worry about me quittinβ the business because God hasnβt said anything about stopping yet,β Parton added. βBut, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding.β
In October, the hitmakerβs sister, Freida Parton, took to social media to ask for prayers.
βLast night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,β the 68-year-old shared in aΒ Facebook post. βMany of you know she hasnβt been feeling her best lately.β
βI truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been [led] to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me,β Freida continued beneath a photo of Parton praying. βSheβs strong, sheβs loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart sheβs going to be just fine.β
βGodspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!β
A day later, Parton jumped on social media to set the record straight.
βI know lately, everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am,βΒ the artist began inΒ an Instagram video. βDo I look sick to you? Iβm working hard here!β
Parton was seated in front of a green screen and said she was making the video on Oct. 8 while filming a few commercials.
The queen of country said she wanted to βput everybodyβs mind at ease, those of you that seem to be real concerned.β
Parton assured fans that she was βOKβ and explained she had βsome problemsβ to deal with and is undergoing βa few treatmentsβ and could βalways use the prayers.β
Parton admitted that following the passing of her husband Carl Dean in March, she βdidnβt take care of myselfβ and βlet a lot of things go that I should have been taking care of.β
βWhen I got around to it, the doctor said, βWe need to take care of this, we need to take care of that,β she detailed. βNothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home.β
Concluded Parton: βI wanted you to know that Iβm not dying! Iβm not ready to die yet. I donβt think God is through with me, and I ainβt done working.β
The songstress cheekily captioned the footage, βI ainβt dead yet!β
βCarl and I spent many wonderful years together,β Parton wrote on social media after Deanβs passing. βWords canβt do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years.β
βThank you for your prayers and sympathy,β she concluded.
