It’s getting spicy in this building.
Real-life couple Meryl Streep and Martin Short were photographed kissing while filming Season 5 of “Only Murders in the Building” in New York City on Wednesday.
Page Six previously reported that Streep and Short, both 75, have been dating for “well over a year now.”
In one scene, Streep as Loretta Durkin placed her hands on Short’s (Oliver Putnam) face as they had a close conversation.
In another picture, the on-screen newlyweds passionately kissed while other photos captured Short and Streep talking excitedly, running and laughing.
Although the circumstances of the scene are under wraps, executive producer Dan Fogelman previously shared what audiences can expect next. The hit Hulu series also stars Steve Martin and Selena Gomez.
The producer, 49, told The Wrap in January that Season 5 will have “another big fun mystery the writers have been cooking up.”
“The ability for the writers to take those three guys who are so comfortable in the skin of those roles now, and where the comedy sits in the show, where the dramedy sits in the show,” Fogelman explained. “It’s just so always so fun to start a new story with them and explore new aspects of their friendship and new aspects of their lives.”
Season 5 will also star Renée Zellweger, Logan Lerman, Jermaine Fowler, Christoph Waltz, Keegan-Michael Key and Beanie Feldstein.
In March, the comedy filmed near a house used in the iconic 1972 Francis Ford Coppola movie, “The Godfather.”
Martin took to Instagram to share a picture with followers, writing, “Just got off the Staten Island Ferry, along with the sensational marine crew, Selena and Marty. A spectacular drone shot for OMITB!”
The Corleone home from the crime movie is located in the affluent Todt Hill neighborhood of Staten Island.
Short and Streep, meanwhile, have been making headlines since the “Mamma Mia!” star joined “OMITB” in Season 3.
Short and Streep sparked romance speculation after getting cozy at the 2024 Golden Globes in January 2024. The “Father of the Bride” alum’s rep quickly shut down the speculation.
At the time, Short’s rep told E! News, “They are just very good friends. Nothing more.”
Then the comedian insisted that he and Streep were merely “friends” during an August interview with The Hollywood Reporter. It was later confirmed that they are, in fact, an item.
Short was previously married to actress Nancy Dolman — with whom he had three kids: Katherine, 40, Oliver, 37, and Henry, 34 — from 1980 until her death from cancer in 2010.
Sources told Page Six in 2023 that Streep and Don Gummer — whom she married in 1978 and had four children with: Henry Wolfe, 44, Mamie Gummer, 40, Grace Gummer, 37, and Louisa Jacobson, 32 — had been quietly “separated for more than six years.”
A year later, in October 2024, the show’s co-creator John Hoffman opened up about the stars’ working relationship ahead of their Season 4 finale.
“You know, it is one of the most unexpected turns but I remember thinking like, ‘God,’ ” the writer told Decider at the time. “As I got to know Meryl, as I’ve known Marty and as I watched the two of them work together in Season 3, I just — it was unbelievable. We were laughing our heads off and they just delighted in each other onscreen, off screen in every way.”
Hoffman also detailed that Streep had a breakthrough moment while playing Loretta.
“I remember one night we were shooting on the ferry in Episode 5 of Season 3. We shot until about two in the morning on the most gorgeous night in Manhattan,” he explained. “I got off to gangplank there and Meryl was waiting and she had tears in her eyes and she said, ‘I just had to wait here for you to get off the boat to say thank you.’ And I was like, ‘What?’ and she said, ‘I just got to play a scene I really thought that the likes of which I wouldn’t have a chance to do. To play romantic scenes at this age with this band in this way, it’s just the greatest thing ever.’”
Hoffman felt like “the luckiest guy in the world to have her anywhere near a set that I was near.”
“So that felt like one of the most gratifying things,” added the creator. “And I kept on thinking like, ‘I hope the world falls in love with this couple the way we all are.’ And that is so due to the magic that they create together.”
