Meghan Markle apparently needs an introduction.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, had a staff member announce her by her royal title as a journalist entered a room to interview the mother of two for a Harper’s Bazaar cover story that was published Wednesday.
“We’re in a grand brownstone on the Upper East Side that belongs to one of Meghan’s friends,” reporter Kaitlyn Greenidge wrote in the story about their interaction that took place in New York City in October.
“When I enter, the house manager announces, ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,’ even though we appear to be the only other two people in the house,’” Greenidge added.
The journalist said that Markle and Prince Harry were in NYC at the time to receive the Humanitarians of the Year Award from Project Healthy Minds, a mental health nonprofit.
Markle, according to Greenidge, wore black leggings and an oversized Northwestern sweatshirt and had her hair pulled back for the interview.
“If she has any makeup on, it’s difficult to tell; her skin is bare, and some of her freckles are visible,” Greenidge wrote. “She looks like she could still be in college.”
One week before their Big Apple meeting, Greenidge and Markle had a sit-down at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. They chatted at a “prime” table where they could be seen by other diners, which Greenidge said was a “calculated choice.”
Greenidge also claimed that the Sussexes’ chief communications officer sat between herself and Markle.
Towards the end of the interview, the waiter allegedly came to the table with an “unsolicited cappuccino” that had foam featuring “a photorealistic image” of Markle.
“Oh. I recognize this picture. That’s from our trip to South Africa,” Markle allegedly said, referring to her and Prince Harry’s 2019 tour of the country. She also took a photo of the cappuccino, per Greenidge.
Before the interview ended, the As Ever founder shared her hopes for what her two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, get out of watching her work.
“I hope they see the value of being brave,” Markle told Greenidge. “They saw it when the jam was just a pot on the stove, bubbling. When you’re young. I think you are a little bit more fearless. As we get older, we lose some of that.”
The former “Suits” star also gushed over Harry, 41, during the NYC portion of the interview.
“He loves me so boldly, fully, and he also has a different perspective because he sees media that I wouldn’t,” Markle said while allegedly putting her hand on her heart.
“No one in the world loves me more than him, so I know he’s always going to make sure that he has my back,” she added.
